Publication number: 20050092454Abstract: A deflocculating mechanism for use in a paper making machine includes a support member such as a forming board or a foil blade for location beneath a forming fabric belt. The support member has an upper surface defining at least one groove that runs in a cross-machine direction, the groove being provided with retention device for holding an insert in a sliding engagement in the groove to induce micro-turbulence in pulp stock being carried by the forming fabric belt. A pressure pulse commences in the pulp stock from a single source at one side of the forming fabric as it passes over the leading edge of the insert and then travels across the fabric along the line of the insert as a single wave. This produces a more controlled agitation and deflocculation of the pulp stock.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2002Publication date: May 5, 2005Applicant: POLY HI SOLIDUR (UK) LimitedInventor: Robert Longbottom

Patent number: 6554074Abstract: A lift fluid driven downhole electrical generator and method for generating and controlling the electrical output from the electrical generator is disclosed. The electrical generator comprises a housing having a lift fluid port in a sidewall portion thereof for allowing the flow of lift fluids therethrough. A rotor is rotatably disposed within the housing. The rotor converts lift fluid pressure to rotary motion when the lift fluid travels through the lift fluid port and impinges the rotor. The electrical generator also includes an electromagnetic assembly having a first portion that is rotatable with the rotor and a second portion that is stationary with the housing. The electromagnetic assembly converts the rotary motion to electricity as the first portion of an electromagnetic assembly rotates relative to the second portion of the electromagnetic assembly.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2001Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventor: Jim Robert Longbottom

Patent number: 5845711Abstract: The apparatus and method for injecting coiled tubing downhole includes a connector member disposed on the end of the coiled tubing and supporting a downhole tool. A packer member is releasably connected to the connector member. The packer member includes a pack-off element and slips for releasably engaging the outer pipe string through which the coiled tubing is being injected. Seals are provided on the packer member for engaging the outer circumferential surface of the coiled tubing. A fluid passageway extends through the connector member for communicating the packer member with the coiled tubing. Fluid pressure is applied through the flow bore of the coiled tubing. The fluid pressure is applied through the fluid passageway to actuate an actuator member in the packer member to set the pack-off element and slips. Thus, upon actuating the packer member, the annulus formed by the coiled tubing and outer pipe string is closed.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1995Date of Patent: December 8, 1998Assignee: Halliburton CompanyInventors: Michael L. Connell, James Craig Tucker, Pat Murphy White, James Robert Longbottom, Paul L. Browne, Michael Dennis Bullock, Karluf Hagen

Patent number: 5704393Abstract: The apparatus and method for injecting coiled tubing downhole includes a connector member disposed on the end of the coiled tubing and supporting a downhole tool. The connector member includes a dual check valve in the fluid passageway which allows fluid passage to actuate the packer member and closes the fluid passage after the connector member is disconnected from the packer member. The connector member may also include a valve member which allows circulation down the flow bore of the coiled tubing. The packer member includes a valve for the passage of well fluids between the packer member and coiled tubing.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1996Date of Patent: January 6, 1998Assignee: Halliburton CompanyInventors: Michael L.
