  • Patent number: 9052293
Abstract: There is provided a test method for analysing a body fluid in which a test tape is used in a test device in order to successively provide analytical test fields stored on the test tape, wherein body fluid is applied by a user to the test field provided at a time and the said test field is photometrically scanned using a measuring unit of the device to record measurement signals. In order to increase the measurement reliability, it is proposed that a control value is determined from a time-dependent and/or wavelength-dependent change in the measurement signals and that the measurement signals are processed as valid or discarded as erroneous depending on the control value.

  • Publication number: 20150137648
Abstract: A rotary electric machine includes a stator and a rotor. The rotor has at least one permanent magnet arranged in a d-axis magnetic path. The rotor includes a magnetic gap part located between the permanent magnet arranged in the d-axis magnetic path of one pole and an adjacent magnet with a different polarity, such that a d-axis magnetic flux forms a d-axis bypass passing through an area other than the permanent magnet. The d-axis bypass provides a magnetic resistance in a d-axis direction that is set below a magnetic resistance in a q-axis direction that is orthogonal to the d-axis resistance.

  • Publication number: 20150120269
Abstract: Examples of energy forecasting in hierarchical energy systems are provided herein. A global forecast model instance for a hierarchical energy system can be determined through aggregation of energy forecast model data from individual energy smart meters. Energy forecast model data can include values for energy forecast model parameters used by the individual smart meters. The energy smart meters include measurement, forecasting, and calculation capabilities. The smart meters locally determine a forecast model instance used by the smart meter and provide corresponding information to higher levels in the energy system hierarchy. A global forecast model instance is determined based on the provided information.

  • Patent number: 8934853
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure use shared oscillator for cellular communications and location detection in a communication device. The communications device estimates a frequency offset of one of its subsystems. The communications device determines a frequency offset that results from drifting of this shared oscillator, typically caused by aging and/or changes in temperature, voltage, humidity, pressure, and/or vibration to provide some examples, from the frequency offset this subsystem. The communications device provides various compensation parameters to its various subsystems to compensate for the frequency offset that results from drifting of the oscillator.

  • Patent number: 8837635
Abstract: Embodiments provide systems and methods to dynamically control a radio frequency (RF) transmitter based on monitored error vector magnitude (EVM) performance. Embodiments are enabled by a feedback path that allows estimating the EVM at the output of the transmitter and controlling the transmitter, including the power amplifier (PA), accordingly. As such, the transmitter (and the PA) can be operated as close as possible to the ideal operating point that meets, based on actual conditions, a specified EVM performance and desired output power. By doing so, the overall power consumption of the transmitter is reduced.

  • Patent number: 8811918
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention recognize at least two zones of operation for a communication device. In a first zone, which is sufficiently spaced away from a human head or body that SAR limits will be met, transmit power delivered to an antenna of a communication device may be maximized within any other constraints under which the communication device operates. In a second zone, which is not sufficiently spaced away from a human head or body, transmit power is redistributed such that SAR limitations are met without affecting the transmit power control loop of the communication device. For example, a second antenna physically disposed at a different location within the communication device may be used either instead of, or in addition to, the first transmit antenna in order that the SAR limits are met.

  • Publication number: 20140148118
Abstract: Embodiments provide methods and systems for transmitting an emergency (SOS) message from a user (UE) to a cellular network in a highly robust and energy efficient manner. Specifically, embodiments enable the SOS message to be sent in a synchronous manner despite the asynchronous nature of the network, which significantly enhances the probability of successful reception of the SOS message by at least one base station (eNodeB) of the network. Embodiments further provide highly robust SOS message transmission and reception schemes configured to enhance the successful detection and decoding of the SOS message by at least one base station of the cellular network. In addition, embodiments enable the synchronous transmission of the SOS message to the network without requiring network attachment by the UE. This makes embodiments highly suited for emergency situations in which network coverage is affected and can enable significant and precious power savings at the UE.

  • Publication number: 20130242784
Abstract: In a communications network with carrier aggregation (CA), embodiments enable the network to advertise to a supported wireless device not only whether or not aggregated component carriers allocated to the wireless are intra-band adjacent but farther whether or not the allocated component carriers are collocated. Embodiments further enable the wireless to advertise its CA capabilities including the support of adjacent collocated CA and/or non-adjacent collocated CA. Embodiments thus provide systems/methods for the exploitation of special conditions provided by adjacent collocated component carriers to reduce processing complexity and power consumption for certain types of wireless device transmitter/receiver architectures and to support intra-band adjacent CA for other types of UE transmitter/receiver architectures.

  • Publication number: 20130109441
Abstract: Embodiments provide systems and methods for aligning the supply voltage signal applied to a power amplifier (PA) with the radio frequency (RF) output signal of the PA in a wireless device. The RF output signal is generated by applying a transmit signal to a transmit path of the wireless device. The supply voltage is generated by applying an envelope tracking (ET) signal, based on the transmit signal, to an envelope tracking (ET) path of the wireless device. Embodiments operate by estimating the delays of the ET path and the transmit path, and then controlling a relative delay between the transmit signal and the ET signal accordingly. In an embodiment, estimation of the delays of the ET path and the transmit path is done by correlating respective signals of each path.

  • Publication number: 20130109442
Abstract: Embodiments provide systems and methods for producing an envelope tracking (ET) PA supply voltage with minimum headroom relative to the desired RF output signal of the PA. In an embodiment, the PA supply voltage is generated by applying an ET signal to an ET path of the wireless device, and by further applying pre-emphasis to the ET signal to compensate for a frequency response of the ET path. Embodiments operate by estimating the frequency response of the ET path and determining the pre-emphasis based on the estimate of the frequency response of the ET path. In embodiments, the pre-emphasis is applied using a pre-emphasis filter, which may be within or outside of the ET path. Further, the pre-emphasis may be applied to the ET signal in digital or analog form.
