Patent number: 11926553Abstract: Provided is a system for and a method of processing an optical fiber, such as tapering an optical fiber. The method includes receiving fiber parameters defining characteristics of an optical fiber, modeling an idealized fiber based on the fiber parameters to establish modeled data, and establishing processing parameters. A processing operation is performed on the optical fiber according to the processing parameters to produce a resultant fiber. Aspects of the resultant fiber are measured to establish measured data. The measured data and the modeled data are normalized to a common axis and a difference between the two is determined. The processing parameters are adjusted based on the differences.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2023Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: 3SAE TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Robert G. Patent number: 10370143Abstract: An article enclosing at least one built-in fitment component in the form of a hollow body of thermoplastic material. The hollow body is preferably in the form of a fuel tank. The built-in fitment component is pressed against the inside wall of the article while still plastic so that the plastic material of the hollow body penetrates through at least one recess or opening of the built-in fitment component and flows therebehind.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2015Date of Patent: August 6, 2019Assignee: KAUTEX TEXTRON GMBH & CO. KGInventors: Matthias Borchert, Timo Kramer, Klaus Gebert, Dirk Eulitz, Gerd Wolter, Harald Lorenz, Deniz Bienhuls, Christoph Mehren, Robert Lower

Patent number: 9023264Abstract: The invention concerns a process for the production of an article enclosing built-in fitment components in the form of a hollow body of thermoplastic material. The hollow body is preferably in the form of a fuel tank. The process includes the extrusion of one or more preforms in web or tube form of plasticized material between the opened portions of a mold tool forming a cavity, wherein at least one built-in fitment component to be enclosed by the finished article is placed between the portions of the mold tool and the tool is closed around the preforms and the built-in fitment component, wherein the preforms within the cavity enclosed by the tool acquire the external configuration of the article. The built-in fitment component is pressed during or directly after the shaping operation against the inside wall of the article while still plastic so that the plastic material of the hollow body penetrates through at least one recess or opening of the built-in fitment component and flows therebehind.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2007Date of Patent: May 5, 2015Assignee: Kautex Textron GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Matthias Borchert, Timo Kramer, Klaus Gebert, Dirk Eulitz, Gerd Wolter, Harald Lorenz, Deniz Bienhuls, Christoph Mehren, Robert Lower

Patent number: 8147232Abstract: The invention concerns a mold tool for the production of extrusion blow molded products, comprising at least three mold portions (2a, 2b, 3) which define a mold cavity (4) and of which two are in the form of outer molds (2a, 2b) and one is in the form of a central mold (3). The outer molds (2a, 2b) and the central mold (3) are displaceable from and towards each other in the sense of an opening and closing movement of the tool. The central mold (3) is provided with component holders (11) which can be moved out of and into the tool plane defined by the central mold and are arranged in turn on a carrier (10) which is also displaceable with respect to the central mold (3).Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2007Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Kautex Textron GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Matthias Borchert, Timo Kramer, Dirk Eulitz, Gerd Wolter, Harald Lorenz, Deniz Bienhuls, Christoph Mehren, Robert Lower

Patent number: 8003041Abstract: The invention concerns a process for the production of hollow bodies of thermoplastic material. In the process according to the invention preforms in web or band form of plasticized material are shaped in a multi-part tool forming a mold cavity comprising two outer molds and at least one central mold which perform an opening and closing movement relative to each other. The central mold is provided with at least one component holder which can be moved of and into the tool plane defined by the central mold. In a first step the component holder is fitted with at least one insert portion, then the insert portion is placed by means of the component holder against the inside wall of an outer mold.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2007Date of Patent: August 23, 2011Assignee: Kautex Textron GmbH & Co.
