Abstract: An instrument for use in cartilage removal comprises an elongate body having a first end and a longitudinal axis having a longitudinal direction. A cartilage removal portion is coupled to the elongate body at the first end. The cartilage removal portion includes a plurality of serrated blades substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and adapted for removing material while moving in the longitudinal direction. Each serrated blade has a centroid located along the longitudinal axis.

The method includes steps of recording a last job commencement event for a subscriber when the batch processing system starts processing a batch process for the subscriber; recording a last usage event for the subscriber when the subscriber uses the batch processing system; in an event that a time period elapsed since the last usage event for the subscriber is less than a time period elapsed since the last job commencement event for the subscriber, placing a next batch process of the subscriber into a recently used queue; identifying the next batch process of the subscriber as the oldest batch process from the recently used queue; and start processing the identified batch process for the subscriber.

Abstract: Some embodiments can include a barbed tape stack formed from a planar strip of flexible material and comprising a plurality of barbs disposed therealong, said barbs being sufficiently resilient so as to impede, by entanglement with or otherwise, the passage of an object therepast. The tape is folded in concertina-like folds to form a stack. Apparatus for deployment of barbed tape stacks is also disclosed.

Abstract: A device and method are disclosed to enable fluid manipulations without disturbing or removing particles or cells. By engineering assay compartment geometries to take advantage of fluid mechanical effects, the flow velocity may be diminished around particles or cells. This technology may be used to process particles or cells of various kinds that are suspended in liquids or gels, and is suitable for use in high throughput screening.
