Abstract: A process for imparting curl retention onto hair involving (a) forming a hair fixative, said hair fixative containing: (i) an alkyl polyglycoside having general formula I: R1O(R2O)b(Z)a  I wherein R1 is a monovalent organic radical having from about 6 to about 30 carbon atoms; R2 is divalent alkylene radical having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms; Z is a saccharide residue having 5 or 6 carbon atoms; b is a number having a value from 0 to about 12; a is a number having a value from 1 to about 6; and (ii) a solvent; and (b) applying said hair fixative onto said hair.

Abstract: A pearlizing agent for such products as shampoos and hand soaps contains a glycol distearate, an alkyl polyglycoside, a betaine of the formula II ##STR1## wherein R.sup.5 is an alkyl or alkenyl group having from 7 to 21 carbon atoms and R.sup.6 is alkylene group having from 2 or 3 carbon atoms; each of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 is independently an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a glycol, and water.

Abstract: Foaming shampoo compositions which contain no anionic surfactant and are mild to the skin and eyes are comprised of alkyl polyglycosides, betaines, and polymeric slip agents.
