  • Publication number: 20110221184
Abstract: A hose coupling assembly is disclosed that includes a nipple section for retaining a flexible hose where the hose is crimped between the nipple section and a socket. A tubular sleeve covers a portion of the nipple section known as the nipple extension section and the sleeve is attached to the nipple section so as to cover at least one aperture formed in the nipple section such that the sleeve is forced outward towards the socket when pressurized fluid is introduced into the hose coupling assembly which increases the compression force on the hose and thereby increases the operational pressure limit of the hose coupling assembly.

  • Publication number: 20040032124
Abstract: A hose fitting suitable for use with a reinforced hose is provided that includes a longitudinally extending body having a hose end and a coupling end. The body includes an exterior surface and an interior opening. The exterior surface of body defines a gripping surface and a reinforcement trapping surface. Fitting also includes a socket surrounding the body. The socket defines an interior surface, which cooperates with the exterior surface of the body to define a generally cylindrical opening for receiving the hose. The interior surface of the socket is positioned radially outward of the gripping surface and the reinforcement trapping surface. The hose reinforcement is trapped between the interior surface and the reinforcement trapping surface to inhibit movement of the hose reinforcement.

  • Patent number: 5608963
Abstract: A firesleeve assembly as used with hose systems, such as pressurized fuel, lubricating and hydraulic circuits. The cut end of a firesleeve utilizing a fibrous material such as glass fiber is enclosed and sealed by a cuff sleeve having a portion located upon the hose, or an associated fitting, wherein a portion of the cuff sleeve is located within the firesleeve adjacent the cut end and another portion of the cuff sleeve is folded over the cut end locating an outer cuff sleeve portion over the outer diameter of the firesleeve and enclosing the firesleeve end. Preferably, an annular clamp circumscribes the cuff sleeve to produce sealing between the cuff sleeve, firesleeve and hose system preventing moisture or liquids from entering the firesleeve end.

  • Patent number: 5349988
Abstract: A multiple layer hose and fitting assembly for refrigeration circuits particularly suitable for larger sizes of refrigeration conduit wherein refrigerant loss to the atmosphere through the hose material is minimized and flexibility is maintained. An inner tube of thermoplastic material is employed to minimize refrigerant loss due to permeation, and the inner tube is corrugated to provide lateral flexibility. The hose includes pressure reinforcing layers or covers, and a moisture ingression resistant sheath or layer circumscribes the inner tube to protect the inner tube from contamination by moisture. In the preferred embodiment the sheath is located between a braided reinforcing layer engaging the inner tube and a braided cover. The moisture ingression resistant layer is preferably formed of a thermoplastic rubber, and the adjacent hose layers are capable of limited axial displacement relative to each other to assure lateral flexibility.

  • Patent number: 4172473
Abstract: The invention pertains to an insert for flexible wall hose used in vacuum applications, particularly hydraulic vacuum environments, consisting of a tubular body of nonmetallic elastomeric material adapted to be closely received within the bore of the hose, the insert body being supported against internal collapse by a plurality of metal rings embedded within the insert body material. The rings are axially spaced with respect to the body length whereby the insert body may be readily severed intermediate adjacent rings, and the end regions of the inserts are defined by the elastomeric body material. A plurality of insert bodies are inserted within the hose to be internally supported, and the insert body construction permits the inserts to be readily located within all lengths of hose complete support of the hose in hydraulic vacuum applications and produces minimal flow resistance and turbulence.
