  • Patent number: 5357234
Abstract: A fuse that includes an insulating housing made from two housing pieces made of thermoplastic material, terminals extending through slots in the ends of the housing, and a fusible element having ends connected to both of the terminals. The housing includes a tubular portion and slotted end portions located at each of the two ends of the tubular portion. Each of the terminals has an internal portion inside the housing to which a fusible element is attached, an external portion outside of the housing, and a middle portion between the internal and external portions and located within one of the slots.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 23, 1993
Date of Patent: October 18, 1994
    Assignee: Gould Electronics Inc.
Inventors: Robert M. Pimpis, Richard J. Perreault, George F. Walker, Jr., David E. Suuronen, Edward J. Knapp, Jr.
  • Patent number: 5296832
Abstract: A fuse that includes a tubular member made from insulative material, end block portions made from insulative material, a spanner joining together the end block portions, terminals extending through openings in the end block portions, and a fusible element having ends connected to both of the terminals. Each of the terminals has an internal portion inside the tubular member to which a fusible element is attached, an external portion outside of the tubular member, and a middle portion between the internal and external portions and located within one of the openings of the end block portions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 23, 1993
Date of Patent: March 22, 1994

  • Patent number: 5294905
Abstract: A fuse that includes an insulative housing, terminals extending through gaps in the bottom of the housing, and a fusible element having ends connected to both of the terminals. The housing includes a four-sided box that is closed at the top and open on the bottom, and a lid for closing the open bottom of the box that is smaller than the open bottom of the box so that, when the lid is in place, two gaps are formed in the bottom and at opposite ends of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5127307
Abstract: An applicator for applying resin to fibers being braided in a tubular shape (e.g., in the manufacture of a fuse casing), the applicator having a wiping surface on which the fibers wipe as they travel to a mandrel on which they are braided, the wiping surface being defined by a surface of revolution around the mandrel and having a continuous orifice for supplying resin continuously around the wiping surface. Also disclosed is an electrical fuse including a fuse casing having a tubular wall including multiple-filament reinforcing yarns that have been braided in the tubular shape of the wall and a synthetic resin bonding the yarns together and impregnating the yarns, a pair of terminals secured to the ends of the fuse casing, and a fusible element inside the casing and connected to the terminals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 17, 1990
Date of Patent: July 7, 1992
