Patent number: 8655721Abstract: A method of negotiating an electronic commerce (e-commerce) transaction for the sale of a selected good can include identifying an asking price for the selected good and retrieving from memory merchant business objectives (MBOs) and consumer privacy rules (CPRs). The MBOs can specify incentive information corresponding to a proposed exchange of consumer information and the CPRs can specify asking prices corresponding to the proposed exchange of consumer information. The MBOs can be compared to the CPRs to determine if an agreement can be reached for the sale of the selected good with an incentive based upon the proposed exchange of consumer information. The e-commerce transaction for the sale of the selected good with the incentive can be consummated if in the comparing step it is determined that an agreement can be reached.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2008Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Kevin P. Patent number: 8339385Abstract: A self calibrating imaging display system and machine-readable storage for such systems are provided, which perform various steps. The steps include forwarding a display test pattern, where the display test pattern including a measurement field comprising approximately 10% of a total number of pixels displayed by a screen and where the measurement field can be placed at different regions of the screen. The steps also include causing the measurement field to be stepped through a sequence of values. The steps further include receiving luminance and color values from photosensors to detect distinct luminance and color levels at the different regions of the screen. The steps also include determining luminance and color correction factors by comparing the detected luminance and color values to reference luminance and color data. The steps additionally include applying the determined luminance and color correction factors to the different regions of the screen.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2009Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Sussan S. Patent number: 7933975Abstract: A continually improving method for providing information to receivers which can include the step of receiving a request from a remotely located information requestor that specifies at least one information receiver. A transaction can be initiated to handle the request. The transaction can utilize previously recorded information to determine at least one adjustable condition to be used. The previously recorded information can be specific to the information requestor and/or the information receiver. The transaction can generate at least one result for the information receiver. The generated result can be tailored for information privileges granted to the information receiver by an information controller. The result can be conveyed to the information receiver. Feedback can be received concerning the result. At least one of the adjustable conditions can be adjusted in accordance with the feedback. The recorded information can be changed to include the adjusted condition.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2008Date of Patent: April 26, 2011Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David J. Patent number: 7853446Abstract: A method and system for generating codified electronic records. A textual commentary can be received from a user and, in real time, the textual commentary can be analyzed to identify a plurality of codes that potentially correlate to the textual commentary. The identified codes then can be presented to the user in real time. A first user input can be received to select at least one of the identified codes, and the selected code can be added to an electronic record.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2006Date of Patent: December 14, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David J. Patent number: 7703670Abstract: The present invention describes a method and system for creating and exposing order status within a supply chain of trading partners having disparate systems. A trading partner exchange (TPE) interfaces with each of the disparate systems and gathers information pertaining to a particular transaction. The information can be made available to an access platform through an access platform interface. Initially, a transaction is reported to the TPE where it is assigned a unique identifier. Subsequent activities pertaining to the transaction which are reported to the TPE by the trading partners can be linked to the unique identifier. By using the access platform, a customer or any trading partner can acquire the status of a particular order from the TPE.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2008Date of Patent: April 27, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Jorge A. Arroyo, David U. Shorter, Robert M. Szabo, Filip J. Yeskel

Patent number: 7660733Abstract: A method of scheduling meetings within a calendaring system can include receiving a meeting request specifying a meeting time, at least one participant, and a supplemental meeting service to be scheduled concurrently with the meeting. A determination can be made that a supplemental meeting system is not available. Accordingly, participants can be notified of the meeting time and that supplemental meeting service information has not been determined. The method also can include attempting to obtain the supplemental meeting service information from the supplemental meeting system until a predetermined time prior to the meeting time. If the supplemental meeting service information is obtained before the predetermined time prior to the meeting time, the participants can be notified of the supplemental meeting service information.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2008Date of Patent: February 9, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Scott H.
