Publication number: 20260224223Abstract: An embolic coil is formed from a continuous wire and has a primary shape formed by winding the wire on a tapered mandrel such that the primary shape of the coil is a spiral having an outer diameter that increases from a first outer diameter at the proximal end to a second outer diameter at the distal end that is larger than the first outer diameter. The coil has the primary shape when constrained within a delivery catheter. The coil has a gradient stiffness profile transitioning from a first stiffness at the proximal end to a second stiffness at the distal end that is less than the first stiffness. The coil has a secondary shape after exiting the delivery catheter that includes at least one loop or fold formed from the spiral of the primary shape.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2026Publication date: August 6, 2026Applicant: BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SCIMED, INC.Inventors: Ajay Gupta, Benjamin Wai-Man Chan, Robert M. Publication number: 20260224224Abstract: An embolic coil includes a single wire formed into a primary coil and then forming the primary coil into a secondary coil having a distal section and a proximal section, where the distal section of the secondary coil has a first stiffness and the proximal section has a second stiffness less than the first stiffness. The wire has a constant diameter along an entirety of its length and the primary coil has a constant diameter along an entirety of its length. A difference in stiffness between the distal and proximal sections is created by selective infrared heat treatment of the wire.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2026Publication date: August 6, 2026Applicant: BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SCIMED, INC.Inventors: Robert M. Publication number: 20250367424Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to catheter connection manifold bypass devices, cancer therapy delivery systems, and related methods. For example, a catheter connection manifold bypass device can be included having a fluid passage conduit with a proximal end and a distal end. The bypass device can also include a deformable tip disposed around the distal end of the fluid passage conduit. The deformable tip can fit within a distal portion of a cavity within a connection manifold for a fluid delivery catheter. The bypass device can include a proximal connection port that can be connected to the proximal end of the fluid passage conduit. The bypass device can also include a connection adapter defining a channel, wherein the fluid passage conduit passes through the channel. The distal end of the connection adapter can be configured to attach to a proximal end of the fluid delivery catheter. Other embodiments are also included herein.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 30, 2025Publication date: December 4, 2025Inventors: Carl Parent, David Raab, Robert M. Wold, Joel N. Publication number: 20240261556Abstract: An adaptor for modifying pre-existing delivery system to improve delivery of an injectable treatment material through the delivery system. The delivery system is a pre-existing delivery system formed separately and without regard to the manufacture of the adaptor. The delivery system includes an administration set and a catheter set coupled together in fluid communication via a manifold. The injectable treatment material may be in the form of microspheres or microbeads which may become held up within the void space of the pre-existing manifold of the delivery system. The adaptor reconfigures the interior of the manifold to facilitate complete flow of the injectable treatment material therethrough without getting hung up or otherwise caught within the manifold and not delivered to a patient.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2024Publication date: August 8, 2024Applicant: BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SCIMED, INC.Inventors: Robert M. Wold, Justin Robert Alt, Jordon Lewis

Publication number: 20240207572Abstract: A catheter includes an elongated tubular shaft having a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen extending therethrough. The elongated tubular shaft includes a polymeric outer layer, a polymeric inner layer, and a braided middle layer. A marker band is positioned adjacent the distal end of the elongated tubular shaft and may surround the middle layer, and a polymeric distal tip is attached to the distal end of the elongated tubular shaft. A distal end of the outer layer terminates proximal to the marker band such that the middle layer includes an exposed region that is exposed from the outer layer between the distal end of the outer layer and a proximal end of the marker band, and the distal tip is formed over the exposed region of the middle layer and the marker band, and extends distally beyond the distal end of the elongated tubular shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2023Publication date: June 27, 2024Applicants: Boston Scientific Medical Device Limited, Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.Inventors: Anshul Chabra, Robert M. Publication number: 20230414224Abstract: A medical device system includes an elongate sheath defining a lumen extending within the elongate sheath. A coupler mechanism is slidingly disposed within the lumen, the coupler mechanism including a proximal coupler and a distal coupler. An elongate member is secured to and extends proximally from the proximal coupler. An implantable medical device (IMD) is secured to and extends distally from the distal coupler. The distal coupler remains secured to the proximal coupler while the coupler mechanism remains within the lumen, and the distal coupler releases from the proximal coupler, thereby releasing the IMD, when the coupler mechanism is exterior to the lumen.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2023Publication date: December 28, 2023Applicant: BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SCIMED, INC.Inventors: Mark Steven Smith, Robert M.
