  • Publication number: 20070030818
Abstract: A system (10), method (90) and apparatus (14) are provided for provisioning a multicast stream, such as an IP multicast stream, in a network. The system includes a first tier (12), such as a national backbone, with a first Multicast Address Discovery (MCAD) directory (34), and at least one second tier having a headend, such as a regional headend (14), with a second MCAD directory (36, 38). The system (10) includes a tiered MCAD directory network that allows the assignment of multicast addresses to multicast streams received from an upper tier MCAD directory. The tiered MCAD directory structure allows for requesting and storing stream descriptors and delivering stream descriptors on-demand to MCAD-enabled devices throughout the system. The system (10) also allows for stream provisioning maintenance and validation at lower tier headends via MCAD-enabled device queries or re-queries of upper tier MCAD directories.

  • Publication number: 20060045086
Abstract: A system and method for efficiently adding a new network resource to a digital video network, without the need to purchase costly ancillary network hardware or extensive manual configuration, is disclosed. The inventive system and method provide for a loop-through for adding new resources to a digital video network. The present invention provides for the resources to be daisy chained from the network switch, where each resource is configured simply as either a loop-through (“LT”) resource or the “last” resource in the daisy chain. Then, only upstream traffic with Media Access Control (“MAC”) addresses of upstream LT resources are transmitted out of the loop-through by the last network resource.

  • Patent number: 6988406
Abstract: A system of liquid level detection has a vessel, a sight glass in fluid communication with the vessel, a float positioned in the sight glass, a proximity switch affixed exterior of the sight glass for transmitting a signal relative to a sensing of the float in proximity to the proximity switch, a timer cooperative with the proximity switch for measuring a period of time relative to the signal from the proximity switch, and an indicator cooperative with the timer for producing a humanly perceivable indication when the period of time is at a predetermined limit. The proximity switch can be positioned so as to detect a low level of liquid in the vessel or a high level of liquid in the vessel.

  • Publication number: 20050175072
Abstract: A spread spectrum slip time encoding scheme encodes data values with one or more Pseudo Noise (PN) codes and generates a corresponding PN encoded data stream. Other data values are encoded into the PN encoded data stream by varying a slip time between the PN-encoded data values.

  • Publication number: 20050125832
Abstract: A communications system (10) for processing video signals in a video-on-demand service employs centralized transcoding in a way that a relatively small amount of transcoding equipment (15) is required, as opposed to transcoding every transport stream. In addition, the embodiments of the present invention do not require transitions from non-transcoded sessions to transcoded sessions. According to one aspect of the present invention, bandwidth is reserved at the node groups (14a-c) for transcoded services, and transcoding is initiated before the node group (14a-c) exceeds its assigned bandwidth. This method provides the opportunity to add additional transcoded services and start decreasing bandwidth allocations to individual channels or services without interrupting existing sessions.

  • Publication number: 20050011641
Abstract: A wellhead is formed by extruding a plurality of tubular liners off of a mandrel into contact with an outer casing. The first tubular liner and mandrel are positioned within the wellbore with the tubular liner in an overlapping relationship with the outer casing. At least a portion of the tubular liner is extruded off of the mandrel into contact with the interior surface of the outer casing. The first tubular liner is extruded off of the mandrel by pressurizing an interior portion of the first tubular liner. Subsequent tubular liners are positioned in concentric overlapping relation and similarly extruded off of a mandrel into at least partial contact with the interior surface of the outer casing.
