  • Patent number: 8550240
Abstract: A Combination Water Dose and Medication Container is disclosed. The device provides a single, pocket-sized, disposable unit that separately contains water and pills. The water chamber is foil-sealed to prevent tampering. The pill container is available pre-loaded with pills and foil-sealed, as well as empty so that the user can add his or her own pills. Five different versions of the combination container are enumerated in order to optimize flexibility to meet user tastes and manufacturing constraints.

  • Publication number: 20130024584
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for externally managing control target devices such as computer systems, cameras, recorders, etc., in an effective and secure manner. In particular examples, an external desktop agent is connected to a computer system. Remote desktop agent software need not be installed on the computer system. The external desktop agent receives commands such as keyboard and mouse commands from a control computer over a mechanism such as a bi-directional network. To provide security, the external desktop agent does not directly connect to the computer system over an interface such as universal serial bus (USB) but instead provides a PS/2 interface that connects to the computer system through a standard PS/2 to USB adapter. PS/2 does not allow bi-directional command signaling and does not provide file level access to potentially sensitive computer system data.

  • Publication number: 20120226394
Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or manned/unmanned personal flying device (PFD) may be used to deliver a deployable descent system to an elevated location at which people await rescue, such as people trapped in an upper story of a burning building. The UAV or PFD may be used to deliver the descent system, attach the descent system to the building, and deploy the descent system. After deployment, the descent system may be tensioned to prevent sway and facilitate descent. Standoffs may be installed or integrated into the descent system to provide for adequate handholds for descending individuals. Various equipment and methods used in such systems are described herein.

  • Publication number: 20110204188
Abstract: An aerial vehicle includes independently controlled horizontal thrusters and vertical lifters to provide design and operational simplicity while allowing precision flying with six degrees of freedom and use of mounted devices such as tools, sensors, and instruments. Each horizontal thruster and vertical lifter can be mounted as constant-pitch, fixed-axis rotors while still allowing for precise control of yaw, pitch, roll, horizontal movement, and vertical elevation. Gyroscopes and inclinometers can be used to further enhance flying precision. A controller manages thrust applied the horizontal thrusters and vertical lifters to compensate for forces and torques generated by the use of tools and other devices mounted to the aerial vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20100081117
Abstract: A Personal Hygiene Tutor Device and Method is disclosed. The device provides automated prompting to tutor children and others in the proper techniques for a showering, hand washing, tooth brushing and other personal hygiene activities. The tutoring method will selectively commence once the user depresses an activation button, and will continue presenting a series of human-perceptible prompts at predetermined time intervals until the selected method is completed. The device has a water-resistant housing such that it can be placed within the shower/bath/lavatory environment. The device further includes internal speakers and/or visual indicators, and an internal power supply. The device is available in a variety of shapes and sizes to capitalize on several different market-driven application scenarios.

  • Patent number: 6507858
Abstract: Ordered binder document sections having different file formats stored within a binder file. The binder file maintains the order of binder document sections in an index structure. The binder document sections can be removed from the binder file and stored as external files, while their order in the binder document is retained. The index structure is updated when additional binder document sections are added to the binder file. Also, the index structure may be altered so as to change the order of binder document sections in the binder document, without altering the memory locations in which the binder document sections are stored.

  • Patent number: 6470363
Abstract: Ordered binder document sections having different file formats stored within a binder file. The binder file maintains the order of binder document sections and the native file format of each section. The ordered sections can be viewed and edited through a viewport of a frame displayed by a binder program module. The binder program module can also dispatch the underlying application program modules that created each binder document section to spell check and grammar check the binder document sections as a single data processing task.

  • Patent number: 6393441
Abstract: Ordered binder document sections having different file formats stored within a binder file. The binder file maintains the order of binder document sections and the native file format of each section. The binder program module can dispatch the underlying application program modules that created each binder document section to print the binder document sections as a single uninterrupted print job. In this manner, selected sections of a binder document can be printed as a single consecutively printed document without having other print jobs interrupting or intervening between printed sections of the binder document.

  • Patent number: 6092067
Abstract: A system for selectively recording a data structure where one or more external program modules are registered. A group of important actions is selected corresponding to both internal program modules and registered external program modules. The system determines if an action associated with one of the internal program modules or one of the registered external program modules has occurred. If so, the system determines if the action is one of the important actions. If the action is an important action, then information associated with the important action is placed into data fields of a data structure. The data structure containing the information is stored in computer memory. The data structure is maintained within a central container or folder in memory, along with previously recorded data structures. The data structure can be automatically deleted after a predetermined threshold of time.

  • Patent number: 6081553
Abstract: A method for operating a data processing system to compress a first frame in an ordered sequence of image frames. A second frame precedes the first frame in the sequence of frames, and the second frame is preceded by a third frame in the sequence of frames. Each frame is divided into a plurality of processing blocks. The method first determines a displacement vector for at least one block in the second frame. The displacement vector identifies a region in the third frame that is an approximation of the block in the second frame. The displacement vectors in the second frame and measured vectors in the first frame are then used to determine an approximation for a displacement vector associated with one of the blocks in the first frame. This approximation is then used to define a search region in a frame preceding the first frame. The search region includes a plurality of sub-regions, each of the sub-regions having the same size as that block.

  • Patent number: 6026416
Abstract: Ordered binder document sections having different file formats stored within a binder file. The binder file maintains the order of binder document sections and the native file format of each section. The ordered sections can be viewed and edited through a viewport of a frame displayed by a binder program module. By selecting graphical images displayed in a selection area of the frame the content of a binder document section can be viewed and edited without viewing the content of other binder document sections. The graphical images can be icons or graphical images derived from the content of sections called thumbnail images. A thumbnail image can be derived from either the first page or from multiple pages of an individual section. The binder program module can also dispatch the underlying application program modules that created each binder document section to print, spell check, and grammar check the binder document sections as a single data processing task.
