  • Patent number: 8861535
Abstract: Prioritization of data traffic is a common technique for providing enhanced quality of service (QoS), allowing some traffic to reach its destination on an expedited basis without being obstructed or delayed by other lower-priority traffic. A mechanism is disclosed using the bearer architecture of the evolved packet core (EPC) to provide prioritization of traffic from specific packet data networks (PDNs), as well as over specific bearers. The priority information is requested by the mobile management entity (MME), which is commonly overloaded with traffic to and from multiple users and PDNs. In addition, a mechanism is provided for reducing the frequency of unwanted paging notifications for MMEs that are overloaded.

  • Patent number: 7088305
Abstract: An antenna system that for use in both high density areas and rural areas while still obtaining acceptable reception in both locations. The antenna system includes a switching mechanism that permits the user to select between a lower gain range, appropriate for high density areas, and a higher gain range, which is more conducive to rural areas where UHF and VHF signals tend to be the weakest. This system provides the user with greater utility and performance and broader compatibility with television markets of varying sizes.

  • Publication number: 20060146464
Abstract: An overvoltage protection device includes a disconnect circuit configured to be coupled to a voltage source having a phase conductor and a neutral conductor, an output voltage connection coupled to the disconnect circuit; and a microprocessor circuit in communication with the disconnect circuit. The disconnect circuit is also configured to detect an overvoltage condition with respect to the phase conductor and the neutral conductor and to provide a first signal to the microprocessor circuit indicating whether the overvoltage condition is detected. The disconnect circuit is further configured to disconnect the phase conductor and the neutral conductor from the output voltage connection in response to a second signal from the microprocessor circuit if the overvoltage condition is detected, and to connect the phase conductor and the neutral conductor to the output voltage connection in response to the second signal if the overvoltage condition is not detected.

  • Publication number: 20050150034
Abstract: A clip for removably retaining a frame such as a canning screw band having a pair of arms with cutaways portion adjacent an outer surface of a canning screw band increasing removability of the canning screw band from the clip. The clip has a pair of shoulders that coact to removably retain the canning screw band during use. The arms and shoulders are connected by a bridge portion spacing the shoulders such that they engage inner surfaces of the canning screw band during use. A clasp portion adjacent the bridge portion may be used for clasping another object between the bridge portion and the clasp portion. The clip may be used to attach a piece of artwork framed within a canning screw band to a typical fashion belt or a plurality of clips may be linked together with a fabric shoe string to create a unique customizable fashion belt.

  • Publication number: 20050058078
Abstract: A packet data generating method and apparatus for supporting multiple services in a wireless packet data communication system where an MS transmits two or more traffics to a BS on one of a reverse PDCH, a reverse FCH, and a reverse DCCH. To generate a PDU using non-signaling traffic and/or signaling traffic for one of the reverse physical channels, a multiplex option is determined during service negotiations between the MS and the BS. The multiplex option defines a traffic format having a header and a payload including traffic data, and the header includes a service reference identifier field, a length indicator field indicating the presence or absence of a length field, and the length field indicating the length of the traffic data. A PDU is generated by formatting a reverse traffic to have a header and a payload according to the determined multiplex option.
