  • Patent number: 8454334
Abstract: A compressor system includes a lubricant reservoir, a screw compressor, and a valve. The screw compressor includes a housing defining a compression chamber having a suction port, a discharge port, a first lubricant feed port located between the suction port and the discharge port, and a second lubricant feed port located between the discharge port and the first lubricant feed port. The valve is in fluid communication with the lubricant reservoir, the first lubricant feed port via a first lubricant feed passageway, and the second lubricant feed port via a second lubricant feed passageway. The valve is movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the valve fluidly connects the lubricant reservoir to the first lubricant feed passageway to direct lubricant to the first lubricant feed port. In the second position, the valve fluidly connects the lubricant reservoir to the second lubricant feed passageway to direct lubricant to the second lubricant feed port.

  • Publication number: 20070112353
Abstract: A method of forming a nanocrystalline surface on an implant is disclosed. The method comprises the act of roughening at least a portion of the implant surface to form a roughened surface. The method further comprises the act of, without forming an alkoxide on the roughened surface, depositing nanocrystals on the roughened surface. The nanocrystals comprise a material having a property that promotes osseointegration.

  • Publication number: 20070110890
Abstract: A method of forming an implant to be implanted into living bone is disclosed. The method comprises the act of roughening at least a portion of the implant surface to produce a roughened surface. The method further comprises the act of depositing discrete nanoparticles on the roughened surface though a one-step process of exposing the roughened surface to a solution. The nanoparticles comprise a material having a property that promotes osseointegration.

  • Publication number: 20060219661
Abstract: A method of producing a generally uniformly roughened surface on Ti 6/4 alloy or titanium for contact with living bone comprises exposing the Ti 6/4 alloy or titanium in an aqueous solution of citric acid and hydrofluoric acid for a suitable time period to remove the native oxide from the Ti 6/4 alloy or titanium so as to expose the Ti 6/4 or titanium metal surface and create the desired surface topography.

  • Publication number: 20060106535
Abstract: A mapping system is movable over a terrain and operates to generate a map. The mapping system includes a geographical location unit generating location data, a timer generating time data, a pair of different interfaces for inputting flag data, such as a speech interface and a manual interface. The system also includes a processing unit connected to the geographical location unit and to the interfaces. The processing unit has a stored first delay time corresponding to the speech interface and having a stored second delay time corresponding to the manual interface. The second delay time is longer than the first delay time. The processing unit stores current time data and flag data in response to use of a selected one of the interfaces. The processing unit generates compensated time data as a function of the current time data and the delay time corresponding to the selected interface. The processing unit generates compensated location data as a function of the compensated time data.

  • Patent number: 6135744
Abstract: A screw compressor employs a piston unloader disposed in a bore remote from the compressor's working chamber. Flow communication between the bore and working chamber is through a series of unloader ports. The unloader piston has an end portion of uniform geometry which causes the physically non-overlapping unloader ports to, in effect, overlap in operation and is such that the unloader piston need not be maintained in any specific orientation within the bore in which it resides in order to unload the compressor in a continuous fashion.

  • Patent number: 4448458
Abstract: A shut-off cylinder for use in a hydraulic braking system comprising a cylindrical housing, an inlet end cap and an outlet end cap received and secured in the open ends of the housing, the inlet end cap having an inlet port in fluid communication with the interior of the housing and connected to an inflow source of hydraulic fluid from a hydraulic reservoir of the braking system, the outlet end cap having an outlet port in fluid communication with the interior of the housing and connected at its output end to an outflow source of hydraulic fluid to the braking system, a piston slidably received in the interior of the housing between the inlet end cap and the outlet end cap, a coil spring received in the space between the piston and the outlet end cap biasing the movement of the piston under normal operating conditions against the pressure of the inflow source, a by-pass tube communicating with the inlet and outlet ports of the housing, a valve for opening and closing communication between the by-pass tube and
