  • Publication number: 20050246021
Abstract: A high strength porous polymeric material manufactured by a compression process is disclosed. The material results in a network of interconnected collapsed pores, which forces thin overlapping walls and passages to be created. The network provides permeable access for fluid migration throughout the material. The strength and/or permeability are advantageous for medical devices and implants.

  • Publication number: 20050182411
Abstract: A device is formed by the process into a bone screw or fastener, wherein the head has a degree of polymer alignment and strength, and wherein the shank has a higher degree of polymer alignment and strength. In practice of the present invention, the polymer slug is pressed into the die cavity by the actuation of ram press, causing the slug to conform to the die cavity. Through this process, the polymer molecular orientation is aligned to different degrees, in different zones of the device.

  • Patent number: 5215033
Abstract: A flexible, visual boundary marker is provided for delineating surface boundaries and allowing unobstructed transgression of the boundary. The marker of the present invention is particularly useful on a golf course since the marker can be run over by either reel or rotary type lawn mowers without sustaining permanent damage. In this manner the turf immediately adjacent the marker can be maintained without the need to temporarily remove the marker or to maintain the adjacent turf with an additional hand tool. The marker has a highly prominent flag fixed to an elongated post which stands vertically in a free-standing orientation, flexes to a horizontal orientation when contacted by a surface maintenance vehicle such as a lawn mower, and which returns to a vertical free-standing position after the vehicle has transgressed the marker. The marker resists permanent damage, even from commercial reel or rotary lawn mowers, due to the dimensions and flexibility of the marker.

  • Patent number: 5207178
Abstract: An electrode device is provided for use with an electric shock generator carried on the collar of an animal. The electric shock generator produces an electric shock for output to the animal under predetermined conditions to control the movement of the animal. The electrode device includes a snap-on electrically insulative electrode casing which is removably mountable on the animal collar remote from the shock generator. The electrode casing mounts on the animal collar in a manner which permits the electrode casing to freely glide along the animal collar. An electrode is supported on the electrode casing in position to engage the animal in order to transmit the electrical shock produced by the electric shock generator to the animal under the predetermined conditions. A flexible electrical connector electrically connects the shock generator with the electrode. The flexible connector has a flexible wireless conductive path on a flexible insulator.

  • Patent number: 5161485
Abstract: An animal collar arrangement is provided having an electric shock generator carried on the collar of an animal for producing an electrical shock to the animal under predetermined conditions to control the movement of the animal. The electric shock generator includes a pair of electrodes which are removably insertable into respective receptacle openings on the electric shock generator. The collar for the animal carries the electric shock generator so that the electrodes are positioned to engage the animal. The collar has a pair of holes which are aligned with the receptacle openings in the shock generator. A relatively thin back strip member includes a flexible grommet support strip which holds a pair of grommets in proper position to respectively align with the pair of holes in the collar. The grommet support strip properly positions and holds the grommets within the respective collar holes.
