  • Publication number: 20210374111
Abstract: One or more aerial images of a construct (e.g., a utility construct, a utility asset, a power pole, a telephone pole, etc.) may be used to determine a location of the construct. The images may be used to identify adverse conditions affecting the construct such as wood rot, arc damage, flashing, tracking, floating conductors, loose tie-wires, loose hardware, and/or the like. The images may be used to prioritize actions to address the adverse conditions and identify and/or verify the location of the construct.

  • Publication number: 20210175716
Abstract: A solar cell management system for increasing the efficiency and power output of a solar cell and methods for making and using the same. The management system provides an electric field across one or more solar cells. The imposed electric field exerts a force on both the electrons and holes created by light incident on the solar cell and accelerates the electron-hole pairs towards the electrodes of the solar cell. The solar cell management system considers variations in configuration of solar cells to maximize the power output of the solar cells. The accelerated electron-hole pairs have a lower likelihood of recombining within the cells' semiconductor's material. This reduction in the electron-hole recombination rate results in an overall increase in the solar cells' efficiency and greater power output.

  • Patent number: 8354835
Abstract: A current sense circuit, including a voltage regulator, for detecting current conducted by a device under test (DUT) for a wide range of currents, while still providing fine granularity for detecting low/small currents. Two current branches/paths may be established to the supply terminal of the DUT. A switching device, e.g. a transistor device, may be operated to enable a first current branch of the two current branches, or both current branches to conduct current, responsive to the size of the current flowing in the first current branch. The total current conducted by the DUT may be equivalent to a sum of the respective currents flowing in the two current branches. When the switching device is turned off, very small currents conducted by the DUT may be measured with fine granularity. When the switching device is turned on, substantially larger currents conducted by the DUT may be measured.

  • Patent number: 7054554
Abstract: An exemplary embodiment of the invention is a method of detecting network elements in an optical communications network. The method includes an initiating network element generating a neighbor discovery message including a requested hierarchy level at which neighbor discovery is requested and transmitting the neighbor discovery message downstream along the optical communications network. A downstream network element receives the neighbor discovery message, determines if the downstream network element operates at the requested hierarchy level. The downstream network element generates a responding neighbor discovery message if the downstream network element operates at the requested hierarchy level and transmits the responding neighbor discovery message to the initiating network element. Alternate embodiments include a system and storage medium for implementing the method.

  • Publication number: 20020083476
Abstract: What is disclosed is a method and means for reducing the RF noise induced within cable networks within residences or businesses from entering hybrid fiber optic coax networks in the reverse (upstream) direction. The active unit consists of a set of diplex filters connected end to end which segregates the RF traffic into a forward (nominally 50-750/850 MHz) and a reverse (nominally 5-30/36/42 MHz) direction but with an amplifier placed in the low band path. In the simplest embodiment, the active unit is attached directly to an Network Interface Unit (NIU). Signals from the NIU are amplified as they pass through the active unit and are then transmitted through the premise distribution network. The active unit is designed to boost the signals before they are mixed with noise present within the subscriber's premise network. At a second point in the network, typically at the side of the home where the residential premise network connects to the outside cable plant, the network passes through a second passive unit.

  • Patent number: 5621508
Abstract: An An apparatus for confining toner within a toner hopper aperture flange of a cartridge. The apparatus contains a frame which has a rigid plastic core, a first vertical end, and a second vertical end; the rigid plastic core has a central section with a rectangular slot disposed therein.Adhesive material is located on each side of the plastic core. A strip is disposed over the central section of the frame and is adhesively joined to the frame. The strip has an end which extends over an end of the frame with enough length to fold back over the front of the frame and exit through the side of a cartridge, whereby the strip can be grasped and pulled out of the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5213934
Abstract: Microcapsule toners comprise a polymeric shell and a core containing colorants and a polymer binder. Part of the polymer binder is chemically grafted to the shell polymer. A process of preparing the microcapsule toners involves a shell forming interfacial polycondensation and a core binder forming free radical polymerization. The grafting of core binder to the shell is accomplished via the involvement of a polyfunctional reagent capable of reacting with both the shell and core monomers, or involvement of a shell monomer bearing a core monomer functionality.
