  • Patent number: 5885132
Abstract: A method for machining an annular layer or coating of grinding discs of boron nitride or diamonds at the circumference and/or the end face of a disc by means of a tool grinding disc which is especially coated with a silicon carbide layer. The workpiece disc is fed with a first predetermined rate of feed towards the workpiece disc. After the contact of the tool disc with the workpiece disc the tool disc is fed with a reduced rate of feed until a cylindrical or plane surface of the grinding coating of the workpiece disc is achieved. One or a plurality of ultrasonic sensors measure the sound or the vibration generated by the spindle of the workpiece disc. The sound or vibration analyzed in order to automatically reduce the rate of speed if at least one ultrasonic sensor detects contact between the tool disc and the workpiece disc. The grinding process is stopped if at least one of the sensors detects that the workpiece disc is cylindrical or plane, respectively, at least during one revolution term.

  • Patent number: 5853319
Abstract: Grinding tool including a basic body symmetric with respect to rotation and a grinding layer deposited on the periphery of said grinding tool. The grinding layer being composed of the grinding grains, bonding agent and occasionally filler and/or wear-changing additives. The outer radius of the annular grinding layer or the extension in feeding direction perpendicular to the axis of the basic body is different, with the physical properties and/or the volume contents of the components of the layer are different in axial direction such that an adaptation to the different grinding load continuously in axial direction is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5842617
Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing beverages including a fluid conduit terminating in a conduit exit, the conduit exit being oriented upwardly when the apparatus is in an operative position, and a dispenser head defining an enclosure surrounding the conduit exit, the dispenser head having a pouring aperture opening onto the enclosure. The pressure within the fluid conduit is regulated so that beverage traveling upwardly toward the conduit exit experiences a stagnation point, causing the beverage to pour from the pouring aperture of the enclosure due to gravity.

  • Patent number: 5818539
Abstract: A transport decoder 110, for receiving and processing a transport data stream using MPEG-2 formats, includes connections to a physical layer channel interface (channel interface) 112, a buffer memory 114, a host microprocessor 116, audio and video decoders 118/120, and clock signal circuitry 122. Upon receipt of a discontinuity indicator, the transport packet headers are parsed and transport packet payloads are stored in memory. Subsequently, upon receipt of a next program counter reference (PCR) value, a counter is loaded with the received program counter reference value. Next, the data stored in memory is searched for a time stamp and, when one is found, the time stamp is retrieved. Finally, a timer interrupt is set for a point in time approximately one frame time before the time stamp value, and, when the timer interrupt occurs, the program counter reference value is sent to the decoders, thereby providing sufficient time for the decoders to process data.

  • Patent number: 5779472
Abstract: A method and apparatus provide for testing the useful vacuum of a dental vacuum system having at least one high volume evacuator valve (HVE) or hose. The vacuum tester is simple, inexpensive, can be used by non-technical personnel, is easily fabricated to test a wide range of performance standards, and evaluates useful vacuum performance during full flow (that is a real-life situation). The tester includes two simple components, an adaptor tube that is placed into contact with an HVE or hose, and a vacuum indicating weight which cooperates with the adaptor tube. With the dental vacuum system operating the weight is brought into position with respect to the tube so that gravity acts to move the weight away from the tube, and then the weight is released. If the weight moves away from the tube the useful vacuum conditions of the dental vacuum system are insufficient, whereas if the weight stays in operative position with respect to the tube the useful vacuum conditions are sufficient.

  • Patent number: 5717285
Abstract: A cathodoluminescent anode is formed on an insulating substrate, while on another insulating substrate are formed cathode conductors, an insulating layer, a grid layer used for the formation of grids, holes in the insulating layer and the grid layer and microtips in the holes. Moreover, a thin insulating layer is formed on the grid layer in order to limit the current liable to flow between the anode and the grids. Another thin layer or film is formed on the thin insulating layer that is sufficiently conductive or resistive to prevent disturbance by the thin electrically insulating layer, of the electric field created between the microtips and the grids.

  • Patent number: 5639965
Abstract: An oil reclamation system flow meter for measuring the flow rate of a oil through the system wherein a housing forms a first chamber that leads through a constricted lower outlet into a second chamber and the second chamber. The first chamber also includes an intermediate outlet above the lower outlet and an upper outlet above the intermediate outlet. Both the intermediate and upper outlets flow into a duct that opens into the second chamber at a lower end. Oil flows through an inlet into the first chamber and through the lower outlet when the rate is below an ideal rate range, through both the lower outlet and the intermediate outlet when the rate is within the ideal range and through all three outlets when the rate exceeds the ideal range. A viewing conduit indicates the level of oil inside the first chamber and thereby indicates flow rate.
