  • Publication number: 20240411297
Abstract: A field device integration (FDI) system is configured to support the use of OPC UA, OPC UA FX and other flexible (or open) information model based communication protocols in an FDI environment or with an FDI host in a manner that enables the FDI host to fully integrate the support of OPC UA devices with other devices, including other devices that do and that do not support the OPC UA communication protocol. The FDI system design reduces FDI package configuration activities for the OPC UA devices and optimizes the use of the OPC UA data models developed for the OPC UA device within the FDI environment. Still further, the FDI system enables an FDI host to support device communications in both an on-line environment, in which the devices are communicatively connected to the FDI host while operating on-line in a process or factory environment, and in an off-line environment, in which the FDI system simulates or models the operation of a device that is not currently communicatively connected to the FDI host.

  • Publication number: 20240305328
Abstract: A wireless field device for use in an industrial process includes input/output terminals configured to couple to a process interface element. A discrete input/output channel is configured to receive a discrete input signal from the process interface element through the input/output terminals when configured as a discrete input channel. The discrete input/output channel is further configured to provide a discrete output to the process interface element through the input/output terminals when configured as discrete output channel. Wireless communication circuitry transmits and receives information.

  • Publication number: 20240205041
Abstract: An Advanced Physical Layer (APL) adapter for enabling functional interconnection of a 2-wire APL spur to at least one industrial process legacy field device includes a first pair of terminals, APL physical layer (PHY) circuitry, a second pair of terminals and connectivity circuitry. The first pair of terminals is configured for connection to the 2-wire APL spur. The APL PHY circuitry is capacitively coupled to the first pair of terminals. The connectivity circuitry is configured to communicate with a legacy field device connected to the second pair of terminals in accordance with a legacy communication protocol and control the APL PHY circuitry to communicate through the first pair of terminals in accordance with an Ethernet protocol.

  • Patent number: 9651590
Abstract: A monitor module for a turbine flow meter includes a receiver that receives a sequence of pulses sent by the turbine flow meter. A frequency identifier identifies a frequency of the pulses in the sequence of pulses and a mean identifier identifies a mean frequency of frequencies of pulses. An alert system uses the mean frequency to determine when an alert should be issued.

  • Publication number: 20140274181
Abstract: A field device assembly comprises a first process sensor, a wireless transceiver, and a processor. The first process sensor is disposed to sense a first process parameter. The wireless transceiver is configured to communicate wirelessly with a network manager. The processor is configured to process the sensed first process parameter, and to command the wireless transceiver and first process sensor to perform a first resource-intensive activity according to a first commissioned adaptive schedule whereby rates of the resource-intensive activity vary over time and/or based on sensed events.
