Publication number: 20250334642Abstract: A battery system is provided having control, diagnostic, and safety features implemented at the battery cell level. By selectively bypassing one or more battery cells, a battery pack may function as a half-wave generator that produces a half-sine wave output voltage that can be converted into an alternating current using switching circuitry. Moreover, by applying a mixed signal to an individual battery cell, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy can be implemented without the need for bulky external equipment. Further still, safety features, such as battery strain sensors, may be implemented at the battery cell level to provide improved safety information.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2025Publication date: October 30, 2025Inventor: Robert Milliken

Patent number: 8850681Abstract: A modular case and method of forming the same, the case preferably formed from a plurality of panels, edge members and corner pieces having ribs. The panels, edge members and corner pieces are preferably connected to align the ribs, forming substantially continuous ribs capable of distributing forces over a large area of the modular case. The case is most preferably made of plastic, the connections preferably being hot-plate welds. Most preferably, the panels and edge members have a dual skin construction with internal ribs, proving for greater strength and allowing for superior structural properties including air-/water-tight integrity. Edge members are preferably formed with protuberances to allow for better base-to-lid and case-to-case engagement. Hardware attachments to the modular case can be advantageously made while distributing the force on attachment points and without compromising structural integrity.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2013Date of Patent: October 7, 2014Assignee: Hardigg Industries, Inc.Inventors: James S. Hardigg, Mark Gaydos, George Havrilla, Robert Milliken

Patent number: 7912681Abstract: A method for designing a flight vehicle includes determining a preferred aerodynamic shape of a structure of the vehicle; modifying the preferred aerodynamic shape based upon constraints; and determining, using aerodynamic computational fluid dynamics, limit loading conditions for the modified aerodynamic shape. A computer-implemented system for designing a flight vehicle includes at least one computer operable to determine a preferred aerodynamic shape of a structure of the vehicle; modify the preferred aerodynamic shape based upon constraints; and determine, using aerodynamic computational fluid dynamics, limit loading conditions for the modified aerodynamic shape.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2005Date of Patent: March 22, 2011Assignee: Textron Innovations Inc.Inventors: Jim C. Publication number: 20030052124Abstract: A bezel panel mounting system height adjustably disposed within a plastic molded case for supporting panel supported equipment having corner pieces and rails disposed between the corner pieces. Each corner piece has two legs extending from a rounded endpoint which corresponds geometrically with a corner of the case, and having two male members opposite the endpoint on the legs for mating with a female feature on two ends of the rail. The panel is supported on a flat surface of the corner pieces and rails. A crevice is disposed adjacent flat surfaces and outer sides of each rail and corner piece for a gasket. Openings are disposed on the sides and flat surfaces of the rails and corners which correspond to openings in the case and panel to receive retainer devices. O-rings may be disposed on the retainer devices between rails/corner pieces and sides of the case.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2001Publication date: March 20, 2003Inventors: Mark Gaydos, Stanley Lewandowski, Robert Milliken
