Patent number: 12565305Abstract: An aircraft including a wing with a fixed wing portion and a wing tip device rotatably hingedly attached at a fixed wing portion outboard end. The wing includes a wing fold mechanism configured to actuate the wing tip device to rotate relative to the fixed wing portion to at least three commanded and predetermined wing fold angles and to restrain rotational movement of the wing tip device at each commanded position. A first position corresponds to high-speed flying, a second position to ground-based operations and a third position to low-speed flying. The flying positions rotate the wing tip to a position where upper and lower wing tip surfaces are continuations of the upper and lower surfaces of the fixed wing, with a low-speed incidence angle being less than a high-speed incidence angle. The ground-based position reduces the wing span to the greatest degree of the three positions.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2024Date of Patent: March 3, 2026Assignee: AIRBUS OPERATIONS LIMITEDInventors: Oliver Family, Keith Agmen, James Kirk, Robert Mills, Thomas Wilson

Publication number: 20240067326Abstract: An aircraft wing is disclosed having a main fixed wing portion and a wing tip device at a tip thereof. The wing tip device is configurable between a flight configuration and a ground configuration, in which ground configuration the wing tip device is moved away from the flight configuration such that the span of the aircraft wing is reduced. A hinge arrangement connects the main fixed wing portion and the wing tip device and enables the wing tip device to rotate between the ground configuration and the flight configuration. The hinge arrangement protrudes beyond an outer surface of the main fixed wing portion and wing tip device. A fairing covers at least part of the hinge arrangement on at least a suction side of the wing.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Oliver FAMILY, Robert MILLS, Christopher GRAY, Thomas WILSON

Patent number: 9303885Abstract: A system and method for controlling the humidity of an indoor space is disclosed. The system features a desiccant wheel which rotates sequentially through a plurality of distinct process air streams in order to optimize desiccant moisture adsorption at the process side of the desiccant wheel. This moisture is then deposited on the regeneration side of the wheel upstream of a cooling coil, increasing the dew point of the air entering the coil. The latent capacity and operational temperature of the coiling coil will be increased as a result, thus enhancing the dehumidification performance of the cooling coil and the overall efficiency of the system.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2014Date of Patent: April 5, 2016Assignee: NOVELAIRE TECHNOLOGIES, L.L.C.Inventors: Terry Parker, Robert Mills

Patent number: 9169648Abstract: A monolithic spiral design roof pipe flashing having a spiraled base. A spiraled boot is continuously disposed upon the base. The boot defines an inner recess and has annular upper lip defining a spiral conduit. The upper lip further has an angular rim. The base, the boot, and the upper lip are monolithically formed of a molded elastomeric hydrophobic polymer substance and are configured to flex from a closed spiral configuration to an open spiral configuration to create a gap between an exterior surface and an interior surface proximal a shared continuous outer edge of the base, the boot, and the upper lip through which the roof pipe is inserted and fitted within the conduit. Upon release of the flex, the gap closes with the pipe being disposed within the conduit and with an overlap of the exterior and interior surfaces for water tight and flush contact therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2015Date of Patent: October 27, 2015Inventor: Robert Mills
