  • Publication number: 20070036658
Abstract: A gas turbine engine fan having blades embedded with a composite material. The size and the stiffness of the composite material control the vibratory characteristics of the blade without affecting the external blade profile. Accordingly, the gas turbine engine fan may use blades having similar external profiles with differing vibratory characteristics. The gas turbine engine fan can then be tuned using the blades with differing vibratory characteristics. Tuning the gas turbine engine fan minimizes the non-integral gas turbine engine fan vibrations.

  • Publication number: 20070033003
Abstract: An approach to wordspotting (180) using query data from one or more spoken instance of a query (140). The query data is processed to determining a representation of the query (160) that defines multiple sequences of subword (130) units each representing the query. Then putative instances of the query (190) are located in input data from an audio signal using the determined representation of the query.

  • Publication number: 20070025036
Abstract: A power system device-to-device direct communication system comprises a first intelligent electronic device with a processor and a transmit module. Software within the processor maintains a list of “virtual outputs,” which correspond to a number of data channels maintained within the transmit module. The second intelligent electronic device receives the data channels from the first intelligent electronic device and extracts the virtual output bits. The second intelligent electronic device then adjusts a group of its own output contacts in accordance with the received virtual output bits.

  • Publication number: 20070019797
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed for performing a context-based call action in response to an incoming call indication. An incoming call indication is received by a communication client during an active call between a first call participant and a second call participant. A context-based call action involving the second call participant is automatically performed in response to the incoming call indication. The incoming call indication is associated with a call placed by a calling party to the first call participant.

  • Patent number: 7167916
Abstract: Driving task dispatching by an operating system in a multiprocessor computer system is accomplished with a virtual switching queue which accepts highest priority tasks from multiple switching queues which in turn are accessed by instruction processors seeking tasks. Overload, plucking and stealing of tasks may be used to effectively balance load within the computer system. Dynamic reconfiguration used where regular queues lose underlying instruction processors.

  • Publication number: 20070015053
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a lithium battery wherein a surfactant is combined with one or more electrodes to produce a more efficient and safer battery. This combination appears to preclude the normal development of a solid electrolyte interface (SEI) on the electrodes as occurs with electrodes that are not coated with a surfactant. This electrode surface phenomenon is useful with several different electrolyte systems.

  • Publication number: 20070009804
Abstract: An electrolyte is described that represents a new composition of matter. This electrolyte contains alternating electronegative group III-VI elements connected with hydrocarbon or fluorocarbon linkages to form a polyalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl heteroatomic that is used in combination with magnesium ions. These materials can also be combined with magnesium salts or organometallic (metalloorganic) compounds to form a novel electrolyte for use in electrochemical systems, such as batteries. The new electrolytes exhibit magnesium cation diffusion and transport numbers that are equivalent to standard battery electrolytes, such as carbonates. The new electrolytes are nonflammable which represents a substantial advance in the state of the art, especially as it pertains to safety.

  • Publication number: 20070005725
Abstract: A method and system are described for browsing network resources using an asynchronous communications protocol. According to an exemplary embodiment, a method in a client is described for receiving an identifier of a tuple associated with a network resource, the tuple including information related to the resource and a link to other information related to the resource. The identifier is used for requesting a subscription to the tuple associated with the network resource. A notification is received including the information related to the network resource and the link based on the subscription to the tuple associated with the network resource.

  • Patent number: 7159221
Abstract: Regardless of the switching queue organization, enhanced multiprocessor factor performance for software application group is accomplished via allocation of cache neighborhoods to software application groups that share memory space as identified by a user. Certain user requirements may be refused as unavailable to protect overall performance. Exclusivity and priority requirements of a user can also be honored by the operating system. Load balancing and dynamic reconfiguration features respect software application group dedications to the extent feasible.

  • Publication number: 20060280166
Abstract: A method and system are described for providing a general request/response protocol using a presence protocol. According to an exemplary embodiment, a method is described for using the presence protocol for receiving from a requesting entity a descriptor of a resource associated with a responding entity and a request related to the resource. The descriptor and the request are sent to the responding entity using the presence protocol. Using the presence protocol, a response is received from the responding entity replying to the request. The response is sent to the requesting entity using the presence protocol.

  • Publication number: 20060270385
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed for controlling data transmission based on power cost. A power cost per unit data associated with successfully sending data from a wireless mobile device to a remote endpoint in a communications network is determined. The determined power cost per unit data is compared to a first threshold. Transmission of data from the wireless mobile device to the remote endpoint is delayed based on a determination that the power cost per unit data exceeds the first threshold.

  • Publication number: 20060265380
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed for preventing double form submissions at a user agent in a communication network. A form is received from a remote endpoint in the communication network. User input is monitored to detect submission initiation for the received form. In response to detecting submission initiation for the received form, the user agent determines whether a matching previous form submission exists. The determination of whether a matching previous form submission exists is performed by the user agent independent of any scripts received with the form. Submission of the received form is controlled based on the determination of whether a matching previous form submission exists.

  • Publication number: 20060265737
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for providing trusted access to a communication network by a client based on location. An available access network providing access to a target communication network is detected. A determination is made as to whether the available access network is a trusted access network. In response to determining that the available access network is not a trusted access network, location information for the client is determined. An identity of at least one trusted access network is determined based on the determined location information.

  • Publication number: 20060247851
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved mobile device user interface. Aspects of the present invention include associating at least a portion of destinations that are reachable via the devices user interface with a respective channel, and creating a channel table for indicating which destinations are assigned to which channels; and providing the mobile device with at least one control for sequentially changing the channels independently of display of the channel table, thereby allowing the user to switch between destinations based on a TV remote metaphor.

  • Publication number: 20060248185
Abstract: A system and method for advertising over a network an invitation to engage in at least one activity is described. In one embodiment, a presence service on the network receives from an inviting presence client activity information related to at least one activity the inviting presence client is interested in participating. The presence service then updates a tuple associated with the inviting presence client to include the information related to the activity, and sends the invitation to engage in the activity to at least one other presence client on the network.

  • Publication number: 20060245431
Abstract: Preferred embodiments of the invention provide a method and system for processing operations associated with resources on a local network. Aspect of the invention include receiving periodic messages containing resource information from network devices connected to the local network, wherein the resource information includes user-requestable services offered by the network device, and data stored by the network device having a mime type. The resource information from each of the messages and a timestamp are stored in a repository. From the stored timestamp and resource information it can be determined which user-requestable services and data having a mime type were available on the network over a predetermined time period.

  • Publication number: 20060230058
Abstract: A method and system are described for tracking user activity related to network resources using a browser. According to an exemplary embodiment, a user-initiated activity related to a network resource is detected in the browser. The detected user-initiated activity is associated with the network resource to form an activity-resource pair. The activity-resource pair is associated with a record in a data store related to the detected activity or the network resource. By associating the activity-resource pair with records in the data store that relate to the network resource and/or the detected activity, the information in the data store can be used to add context to and provide insight into users' browsing activities.
