Publication number: 20070220879Abstract: A pressure regulating system for a power transmission includes a pressure regulating valve to issue a pressure signal to a load and also a pressure signal to a pressure transducer for feedback to a transmission control module (TCM) which in turn suggests the output pressure of the regulator valve to a desired level in accordance with a pressure command originally issued by the transmission control module. This system provides a closed-loop control for pressure regulation.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2006Publication date: September 27, 2007Inventors: Ronald Lochocki, Robert Moses

Publication number: 20070028760Abstract: The present invention provides a pressure control system having a control solenoid with plurality of coils disposed therein, and operable to provide a plurality of pressure gain characteristics to a torque-transmitting mechanism. By selectively energizing the individual coils or a combination thereof, multiple pressure gains may be achieved with a minimum of additional system hardware.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 5, 2005Publication date: February 8, 2007Inventors: Ronald Lochocki, Robert Moses, Shushan Bai

Publication number: 20060049833Abstract: A system and method are provided for monitoring performance capacity of a piezoelectric material that may form part of an actuator or sensor device. A switch is used to selectively electrically couple an inductor to the piezoelectric material to form an inductor-capacitor circuit. Resonance is induced in the inductor-capacitor circuit when the switch is operated to create the circuit. The resonance of the inductor-capacitor circuit is monitored with the frequency of the resonance being indicative of performance capacity of the device's piezoelectric material.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2004Publication date: March 9, 2006Applicant: U.S.A. as represented by the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationInventors: Robert Moses, Robert Fox, Richard Chattin, Qamar Shams, Christopher Fox, Melanie Fox

Publication number: 20050187066Abstract: An electric motor is connected solidly to the main transmission oil pump shaft on the transmission case. An off-axis chain and gear are connected to the main oil pump shaft via a single freewheeling clutch, so that either source of torque in a hybrid motor can drive the oil pump or the oil pump can be driven by the electric motor or the hybrid motor depending on which motor is traveling at a higher speed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2004Publication date: August 25, 2005Inventors: Robert Moses, John Maten

Publication number: 20050075775Abstract: A vehicle having an automatic transmission includes a roll-back detector that generates a roll-back signal indicating a vehicle roll-back event. A controller receives the roll-back signal and determines whether the automatic transmission is in a forward drive mode having first and second torque transfer elements engaged. The controller engages a third torque transfer element to prevent the vehicle roll-back event.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 2003Publication date: April 7, 2005Inventors: Richard Carlson, Robert Moses, Zhen Zhang

Patent number: 6751978Abstract: A transition fitting for directing fluid from a first line into a second line includes a body, an inlet, an outlet, and a channel. The body defines a constant-volume channel that redirects a direction of the fluid entering the inlet. The inlet is connected to the body and connectable to the first line, and the inlet directs the fluid from the first line into the channel. The outlet is connected to the body and connectable to the second line, and the outlet directs the fluid from the channel into the second line. The bracket is connected to the body and at least partially surrounds the body.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2002Date of Patent: June 22, 2004Assignee: Ranco IncorporatedInventors: Kelly Gagne, Jay Griswold, Philip Hawken, Robert Moses

Patent number: 4724435Abstract: The data telemetry system disclosed is a complete data communications systems suitable for use by utilities such as electric companies, gas companies and water companies which can be used for meter reading and load management at individual subscribers premises. Elements of the system can also be used as a power load carrier in a premise specific local area network (LAN). With the system is disclosed, all 10,000 subscribers per exchange can be serviced. It will be understood that data can be multiplexed between a central office location and remote subscribers for any suitable purpose with the data system as disclosed. A packet switching structure is disclosed having eight to thirty-two bytes in the data message. This packet is routed between the utility and remote subscriber with routing headers being added and deleted as required by the network modules. Each successive layer of the multiplexing and switching hierarchy submultiplies the aggregate 10,000 channel capacity into fewer channels.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1985Date of Patent: February 9, 1988Assignee: Applied Spectrum Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Donald W.
