  • Patent number: 5015822
Abstract: A nozzle structure for a fume-extracting welding gun is described which provides for efficient removal of fume from a welding site. The nozzle is provided with laterally elongate slots formed through a tapering portion or a right cylindrical portion of the nozzle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 13, 1989
Date of Patent: May 14, 1991
    Assignee: MIG VAC Inc.
    Inventor: Robert N. Mann
  • Patent number: 5007664
Abstract: A conventional T-Y joint of a fume-extracting welding gun is constructed of two semi-circularly contoured parts which are snap-locked together along a longitudinal line of join. One part may have a cylindrical portion integrally formed therewith to form an end closure for the joint. The end closure has bores for utility feeds therethrough, with that for the power cable being provided with an integrally-formed hexagonal recess to receive a hexagonal nut on the power cable to enable the power cable to be clamped to the joint.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 17, 1989
Date of Patent: April 16, 1991
    Assignee: Mig Vac Inc.
    Inventor: Robert N. Mann
  • Patent number: 4950867
Abstract: A bellows-like connector is used to join the downstream end of a smooth-surfaced welding gun conduit and the upstream end of a welding gun head to permit the welding gun head to be moved universally relative to the conduit. Resilient rings are located internally of the bellows to resist radially-inward deformation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 9, 1989
Date of Patent: August 21, 1990
    Inventor: Robert N. Mann
  • Patent number: 4945209
Abstract: Additional flexibility of positioning of a welding gun head relative to a smooth surfaced flexible hose is provided by a generally elongate swivel joint positioned between the hose and a bellows connector. The swivel joint comprises two parts which rotate relative to one another about the longitudinal axis of the joint.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 13, 1989
Date of Patent: July 31, 1990
    Assignee: Mig Vac Inc.
    Inventor: Robert N. Mann
  • Patent number: 4926024
Abstract: To prevent abrasion of the power cable of a welding gun as the power cable passes from a bellows connector into the welding gun handle, an abrasion-resistant sleeve is positioned over the power cable at that location.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 13, 1989
Date of Patent: May 15, 1990
    Assignee: Mig Vac Inc.
    Inventor: Robert N. Mann
  • Patent number: 4727238
Abstract: A fume-extracting welding gun has an internal fume-extracting passage and comprises a handle member and a head member which have a normally-fixed angular position but which can be adjusted to another selected angular position. The head member has variable dimension passageways therethrough to the fume-extracting passageway to enable the vacuum applied at the welding site by the fume-extracting passageway to be varied by varying the flow of air through the passageways. The passageways are provided by openings in overlapping portions of a sleeve member and the head member and rotation of the sleeve member varies the passageway dimension.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 22, 1986
Date of Patent: February 23, 1988
Assignee: Bob Mann & Associates Inc.
    Inventor: Robert N. Mann
  • Patent number: 4496823
Abstract: An improved flexible hose having particular utility for a fume extracting welding gun is described. The hose has a smooth outer surface, an inner cylindrical compartment which receives the power cable and welding wire and a plurality of radial webs which define compartments for extracting fumes and for conveying shielding gas to the welding site.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4171073
Abstract: Currently available repeatable fluid dispensers require two valves. This invention eliminates one valve thus making possible a dispenser of more compact design and which possesses greater accuracy, greater precision and improved capability to dispense micro-quantities of fluid.
