  • Patent number: 4660911
Abstract: Right angle surface mount connector comprises a housing loaded with stamped and formed contacts, each having a mating portion, a solder tail, and a bend therebetween. The rear face of the connector has a rib with side-by-side channels having V-shaped floors therein, a portion of each solder tail being disposed resiliently against a respective floor so that the tails are self-centering but can move laterally. The contact is retained in the housing by a scalloped plate adjacent the mating portion, a cantilever arm between the plate and the bend assuring compliance of solder tails against the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4367006
Abstract: Multi-contact connector for a flat conductor cable comprises a housing having a cable receiving face and a trough-like cable receiving opening extending into the cable receiving face. A plurality of contact terminals are mounted in the opening in side-by-side relationship. Each terminal has a spring contact portion which engages one of the conductors of the cable when the cable is inserted. The contact portions are arranged in three rows, the first row comprising the contact portion of every third terminal and which is adjacent to the cable receiving face. The second row and the third row are also formed from every third terminal and the contact portions in these rows are located at increasing distances from the cable receiving face. When the cable is inserted, its leading edge encounters the contact portions of the terminals in the first row and upon further movement into the opening, encounters the contact portions of the terminals in the second and third rows.

  • Patent number: 4334728
Abstract: Zero insertion force connector clip assembly for connecting conductors on a flexible film to conductors on a circuit board comprises a stamped and formed metallic clip and a lifting tool mounted on the clip. The clip has cantilever springs extending from one of its side edges towards the surface of the circuit board. The springs are arcuately formed to define bearing portions which bear against the circuit board conductors and each spring has a portion extending from the bearing portion towards the clip bar. Each spring also has a tool engageable section which extends substantially parallel to the clip bar. The lifting tool comprises a platelike member mounted against the clip bar having edge portions disposed between the end portions of the spring and the clip bar. The springs can be raised from the surface of the circuit board by manipulating the tool as a lever to raise the bearing portions of the springs so that a cable can be inserted beneath the bearing portions.

  • Patent number: 4316067
Abstract: A slide switch intended for mounting on a circuit board to switch terminal pads on the board comprises a channel-shaped sheet metal switch housing, an insulating slide member captured between the sidewalls of the housing, and switch contact members mounted on the outwardly facing surface of the slide member. When the switch is mounted on the circuit board, the switch contact members contact the terminal pads on the circuit board. Retaining means and detent means for the slide member are formed from the sidewalls of the sheet metal housing. Switches can be produced in strip form with the switch housings integral with, and extending laterally from, a continuous carrier strip.

  • Patent number: 4252392
Abstract: A zero insertion force (ZIF) connector clip for connecting parallel spaced-apart cable conductors in a flat cable to parallel spaced-apart circuit board conductors comprises a clip bar having flanges extending from its ends which support the clip bar in spaced relationship to the circuit board conductors. Cantilever springs extend from one edge of the clip bar, each spring having a reversely bent portion, a spring arm portion, an arcuate bend, and a free end which is between the flanges. The arcuate bent portions of the springs bear against the circuit board conductors. A spring unloading means is provided on the clip and has a spring lifting portion which extends between the flanges and is supported in vertical slots in the flanges.
