  • Patent number: 6126628
Abstract: A device for limiting the flow of a fluid from a first region of a patient's body to a second region includes a primary passage for directing fluid from an inlet of the device to an outlet in response to the fluid flow rate being less than a predetermined level and a secondary passage for directing fluid from the inlet to the outlet in response to the flow rate being greater than or equal to the predetermined level. The secondary passage can be characterized as a tortuous flow path and presents a higher resistance to fluid flow than the primary passage. A detector is operative to close the primary passage in response to the flow rate reaching the predetermined level in order to force the fluid to pass through the secondary passage. With this arrangement, when the fluid flow rate reaches a level characteristic of overdrainage, the fluid is forced through the secondary passage in order to effectively reduce the fluid flow rate and prevent overdrainage.

  • Patent number: 5759186
Abstract: A device for transluminal implantation of a substantially tubular, radially expansible stent. The device includes a central tube surrounded by an outer tube axially displaceable relative to the central tube, with the radial dimensions of the tubes being such as to form an annular space therebetween capable of accommodating the stent in an unexpanded state. The outer tube is axially displaceable relative to the central tube. In one embodiment of the device, the central tube, at a distal end thereof, is provided with a section of reduced diameter at the proximal end of which there is an undercut groove forming a circumferential flange within which a proximal end of the stent rests until release of the stent by rearward displacement of the outer tube. In a modification of the device, the central tube, at its distal end, includes a sleeve slidably positioned therearound for capturing at least a proximal portion of the stent restraining the proximal portion against movement until stent deployment.

  • Patent number: 4838490
Abstract: A rotatable nozzle assembly for sprayers having a fluid reservoir and spray head wherein the nozzle assembly includes a spray control barrel which receives liquid from the reservoir and which includes a number of annular spaced orifices. The barrel is rotatably mounted in eccentric relationship within a tube portion of the spray head which is closed by a cap having a discharge opening therein so that the orifices in the barrel may be selectively aligned with the discharge opening in the cap to thereby vary the spray pattern discharging from the sprayer.

  • Patent number: 4773305
Abstract: A piston pump having a flexible rolling membrane which seals the piston from the cylinder wherein the piston is designed to include an upper portion which is spaced inwardly from the cylinder wall so as to form a cavity which communicates through channels and seals carried by the lower portion of the piston in such a manner that the lower portion of the flexible membrane is depressed between the upper portion of the piston face and the cylinder walls during an intake stroke as the cavity is subjected to a decreased pressure and which decreased pressure is removed from the membrane during a discharge stroke of the piston. In the preferred embodiment, the membrane is secured to the upper surface of the piston by a cup-shaped element which protects the membrane from materials within the cylinder.
