  • Patent number: 9014871
Abstract: A system and method for associating a vehicle and vehicle trailer is described. The system comprises one or more sensors that transmit information wirelessly to a tractor display unit. The tractor display unit determines whether the sensor is associated with a trailer to which it is connected and filters out messages from sensors that are not associated with its trailer. To determine which sensors are associated with its trailer, a processor in the tractor display unit synchronizes the reception of sensor messages with the reception of a synchronizing signal, such as a signal generated by operating an auxiliary power system, turn signal, or brake.

  • Publication number: 20090132142
Abstract: An adaptive cruise control system and a method for controlling the speed of a vehicle are disclosed. The system generally includes a controller which determines a torque instruction associated with a limit speed of the vehicle which is less than a selected speed. The method generally includes determining a distance between the vehicle and an object detected in the path of the vehicles determining a torque instruction which is associated with a limit speed which is less than a selected speed from at least the distances and transmitting the torque instruction to an engine controller of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20090096597
Abstract: A system and method for detecting a plurality of vehicle conditions are disclosed. A system may include a plurality of inputs indicating a corresponding plurality of vehicle conditions, and a driver interface unit in communication with the inputs. The driver interface unit is operable to output one or more indicators associated with each vehicle condition, and to modify one of the indicators such that the driver interface unit outputs the modified indicator and the other indicators.

  • Patent number: 4810368
Abstract: Method of automatically separating and cleaning silicon carbide furnace materials using magnetic separation techniques. In the method of the invention, crushed or particulate silicon carbide furnace materials are mixed with a magnetic powder. The lower grade silicon carbide particles are then separated from the first grade silicon carbide crystals using magnetic separation. Recoveries of at least 75% of the first grade silicon carbide are possible using the method of the invention. This method is also useful for the beneficiation of ores, minerals, or man-made materials.

In the method of the invention, crushed or particulate silicon carbide furnace materials are mixed with a magnetic powder. The lower grade silicon carbide particles are then separated from the first grade silicon carbide crystals using magnetic separation means. Recoveries of at least 75% of the first grade silicon carbide are possible using the method of the invention. • Patent number: 4659022
Abstract: Method of producing silicon carbide and of automatically separating a high grade fraction thereof using magnetic separation techniques. In the method of the invention, a silicon source, a carbon source and a ferromagnetic element source are admixed and the admixture is heated from the center outward to form a cylinder containing silicon carbide with a center to exterior temperature gradient. The ferromagnetic element migrates from the hotter center to the cooler exterior portions of the cylinder. The cylinder is cooled and crushed. The lower grade silicon carbide particles are then separated from the high grade silicon carbide crystals using magnetic separation means.

  • Patent number: 4253784
Abstract: A drill guide assembly including a guide having a base with a predetermined transverse dimension and a plurality of guide channels formed therein in spaced apart relation wherein the transverse dimension of the base is sufficient to provide a linear path of travel of a drill bit passing therethrough and into a work piece. A positioning arm attachable at least one of two spaced apart points along the length of the base wherein the positioning arm has one end engaging the work piece so as to establish a predetermined angular orientation between the work piece and the base and particularly the drill passing through the base into the work piece.
