  • Publication number: 20060267532
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for quick mounting of a barrier operator on a ground surface is disclosed. The apparatus includes a mounting frame positioned on the ground and mounting structure extending into the ground surface. Concrete may then be poured into the mounting frame to form an operator support on which the barrier operator is mounted. The mounting structure may be a mounting post received in an excavated portion of the ground, and the mounting post and excavated portion may then be filled with concrete. The concrete in the frame, mounting post, and mounting frame may communicate as to form a unitary mass with the mounting frame and mounting post. The mounting structure may be mounting rods secured directly with the ground. The mounting rods have a spiral flute for driving into and securing with the ground.

  • Publication number: 20060237150
Abstract: A barrier movement or garage door operator has a jack shaft connected to an output shaft delivering power to move a barrier or garage door between open and closed positions, the jack shaft and output shaft being connected by a coupling. The coupling, jack shaft, and output shaft are fixed relative to each other. The coupling connects the jack shaft and output shaft for rotation around a common axis. The coupling receives a portion of the jack shaft and output shaft for securing the shafts within the coupling by compressing against an outer surface of each shaft. The shafts may be cylindrical, and the compressive force may be distributed around the cylindrical outer surface of the shafts. The coupling may have a portion sized to correspond to respective predetermined diameters or sizes of the shafts.

  • Publication number: 20060086895
Abstract: One or more optical signals (wherein at least some of a plurality of optical signals are at different angles of travel with respect to one another and are directed towards an area comprising a movable barrier-controlled point of passage) create reflections when striking passageway boundaries as correspond to a given movable barrier. Obstacles in the pathway also give rise to reflections. By determining a time-of-flight for such reflections, one can detect a likely presence of an obstacle in such a pathway. Pursuant to one approach, such time-of-flight information can further provide information regarding a likely size of such an obstacle.

The system includes a secure processing unit which communicates with a personal keying device and a crypto media controller attached to a user's Workstation. The communication between these processing elements generates a variety of data elements including keys, identifiers, and attributes. The data elements are used to identify and authenticate the user, assign user security access rights and privileges, and assign media and device attributes to a data access device according to a predefined security policy. The data elements are manipulated, combined, protected, and distributed through the network to the appropriate data access devices, which prevents the user from obtaining unauthorized data.
