  • Patent number: 7795896
Abstract: Semiconductor lasers are aged to identify weak or flawed devices, resulting in improved reliability of the remaining devices. The lasers can be aged using a high-power optical burn-in that includes providing a high drive current to the lasers for a period of time, and maintaining the ambient temperature of the lasers at a low temperature. After the high-power optical burn-in, the output of the lasers can be measured to determine if the lasers are operating within specifications. Those that are not can be discarded, while those that are can be further aged using a high-temperature thermal burn-in that includes providing a drive current to the lasers while maintaining the ambient temperature of the lasers at a high-temperature.

  • Patent number: 7797326
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of scanning a data stream in a single pass to obtain uniform data samples from selected intervals. The method comprises randomly selecting elements from the stream for storage in one or more data buckets and, then, randomly selecting multiple samples from the bucket(s). Each sample is associated with a specified interval immediately prior to a selected point in time. There is a balance of probabilities between the selection of elements stored in the bucket and the selection of elements included in the samples so that elements scanned during the specified interval are included in the sample with equal probability. Samples can then be used to estimate the degree of sortedness of the stream, based on counting how many elements in the sequence are the rightmost point of an interval such that majority of the interval's elements are inverted with respect to the interval's rightmost element.

  • Patent number: 7794473
Abstract: A filter delivery device for implanting a vessel filter within a blood vessel of a patient's body. The filter delivery device includes a mechanism for preventing hooks and/or legs on a vessel filter from entangling with each other while the vessel filter is loaded within the delivery device. In one variation, the filter delivery device includes a delivery catheter with grooves at the distal end lumen opening. When a vessel filter with radially expanding legs is compressed and inserted into the distal end of the delivery catheter, the hooks on the distal end of the legs are received and separated by the corresponding grooves on the delivery catheter. In another variation, a pusher rod, with a receptacle for receiving the hooks, is positioned within a delivery catheter to prevent the entanglement of the hooks and/or legs of a filter loaded within the delivery catheter.
