  • Publication number: 20240254018
Abstract: A first 5-gallon bucket with a drain, drain plug and drainpipe and a second 5-gallon bucket with a lid having an opening. In combination, the pair of 5-gallon buckets facilitate the separation of water and paint allowing the proper disposal of the paint. One method of using the 5-gallon buckets involves: (i) pouring paint water into the first 5-gallon bucket; (ii) adding aluminum sulfate and hydrated lime; (iii) waiting for the aluminum sulfate and hydrated lime to separate the paint and water with the paint collecting at the bottom of the bucket; (iv) positioning the first 5-gallon bucket atop the second 5-gallon bucket with the drain aligned with the lid opening; and (v) pushing the drainpipe down allowing water to enter the upper opening of the drainpipe and pour into the second bucket; and (vi) stopping efforts to push down the drainpipe before paint begins to enter the drainpipe.

  • Publication number: 20240258927
Abstract: A DC-to-DC converter having primary- and secondary-side circuitry separated by an isolation barrier, with a transformer and a feedback lane across the barrier, uses a dynamic function current source in its secondary-side circuitry to dynamically adjust the hysteresis threshold only at the transformer burst turn-off edge to provide enhanced immunity to transformer switching noise. An output voltage of the converter (or signal based thereon) is compared to the threshold to provide an input to a timing pulse generator that closes a switch to couple the dynamic function current source into voltage threshold setting circuitry. The dynamic function current source can reduce the threshold to a level that avoids chattering in transformer burst turn-off feedback signal caused by the noise, for a duration that can be based on lane delay of the converter and to an amplitude that can be based on the expected maximum negative amplitude of the noise.

  • Publication number: 20240255360
Abstract: A temperature measurement device includes a Fabry-Pérot resonator constructed of an inorganic optical material on an end of an optical fiber. Light in the optical fiber couples into a cavity of the Fabry-Pérot resonator and resonates at a resonance that varies with temperature of the Fabry-Pérot resonator. A detector receives output light from the Fabry-Pérot resonator and produces a signal indicating a detected resonance. Computing circuitry receives the signal, determines a temperature of the Fabry-Pérot resonator based on the detected resonance and a relationship that correlates the detected resonance with the temperature of the Fabry-Pérot resonator, and outputs a temperature measurement. The cavity may include a channel comprised of a material having a different refractive index than surrounding material. The temperature measurement device may include multiple Fabry-Pérot resonators.

  • Publication number: 20240253004
Abstract: An array of membranes comprising amphipathic molecules is formed using an apparatus comprising a support defining an array of compartments. Volumes comprising polar medium are provided within respective compartments and a layer comprising apolar medium is provided extending across the openings with the volumes. Polar medium is flowed across the support to displace apolar medium and form a layer in contact with the volumes, forming membranes comprising amphipathic molecules at the interfaces. In one construction of the apparatus, the support that comprises partitions which comprise inner portions and outer portions. The inner portions define inner recesses without gaps therebetween that are capable of constraining the volumes comprising polar medium contained in neighbouring inner recesses from contacting each other. The outer portions extend outwardly from the inner portions and have gaps allowing the flow of an apolar medium across the substrate.
