  • Publication number: 20160378667
Abstract: A processor employs multiple prefetchers at a processor to identify patterns in memory accesses to different memory modules. The memory accesses can include transfers between the memory modules, and the prefetchers can prefetch data directly from one memory module to another based on patterns in the transfers. This allows the processor to efficiently organize data at the memory modules without direct intervention by software or by a processor core, thereby improving processing efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20160378808
Abstract: The technology described herein provides for indexing information in a bit vector search index. The bit vector search index comprises a data structure for indexing data about terms from a corpus of documents. The data structure includes a number of bit vectors. Each bit vector comprises an array of bits and corresponds to a different set of terms. Bits in the bit vector are used to represent whether at least one document corresponding to the bit includes at least one term from the set of terms corresponding to the bit vector. The bit vector search index is stored by first indexing information about documents using bit vectors on a first accumulation buffer storage device. When a threshold is satisfied, the information is transferred to bit vectors on a subsequent storage device.

  • Publication number: 20160380701
Abstract: A quasi-optical coupling system launches and extracts surface wave communication transmissions from a wire. At millimeter-wave frequencies, where the wavelength is small compared to the macroscopic size of the equipment, the millimeter-wave transmissions can be transported from one place to another and diverted via lenses and reflectors, much like visible light. Transmitters and receivers can be positioned near telephone and power lines and reflectors placed on or near the cables can reflect transmissions onto or off of the cables. The lenses on the transmitters are focused, and the reflectors positioned such that the reflected transmissions are guided waves on the surface of the cables. The reflectors can be polarization sensitive, where one or more of a set of guided wave modes can be reflected off the wire based on the polarization of the guided wave modes and polarization and orientation of the reflector.
