Abstract: The invention is a wearable accessory item that functions as a bottle opener and a method of using same. Accessory item has a strap and mounting plate attached thereto. Mounting plate has first and second surfaces and a third surface therebetween. Pry plate and pry bar each project from one of mounting plate surfaces and are each positioned in a plane. Pry plate and pry bar each have a surface that engages surfaces of bottle cap inserted into opening therebetween. In another embodiment, the invention is an adapter for use with a conventional wearable accessory item.
