A telematics component communicates with the integrated device and has a data pump sending out information and/or requests for information and receives and sends the list portion. An off-site telematics information provider receives the information and/or requests and the list portion. When the information or the request for information is received, the integrated device and/or the provider decides whether to send a response and, if sending the response, where to send a response and what to send as the response. When the response is sent, the integrated device and/or the provider automatically sends the response to the data pump for use by the telematics component at the vehicle.

A telematics device has at least a third communications channel through which communication occurs to the service provider. The telematics device and/or the mobile device determines which of the first, second, and third communications channels is to be used to communicate to the service provider and the respective one of the telematics device and the mobile device sends the event notification to the service provider.
