  • Patent number: 7469445
Abstract: A vehicle instrument panel includes a glove box opening defined by a door frame, and a door hinged to the door frame. A threaded aperture is formed in the door frame. A one-piece elastomeric bumper has a threaded shank that threads into the threaded aperture to mount the bumper. The bumper has an abutment face that engages the door to establish a closed position of the door. Rotation of the threaded bumper advances or withdraws the abutment face so that the closed position is adjusted. A detent acts between the door frame and the bumper to retain the bumper at a selected rotary position, with the detent being released when the threaded shank of the bumper is stretched axially. A grip is molded into the bumper to facilitate axial stretching to release the detent and rotation to adjust the position of the abutment face.

  • Patent number: 7469945
Abstract: A striker assembly, and method of forming, for use with a closure for a vehicle compartment is disclosed. The striker may have a main shaft with a hoop extending from a first end, threads extending around the main shaft, and a rotational retention feature adjacent to the threads. A bracket may have a pair of mounting flanges, a first wall including a threaded hole therethrough that engages the threads, a second wall, spaced from the first wall, having a hole therethrough that engages the main shaft, and a flexible arm having a catch engageable with the rotational retention feature.

  • Patent number: 7360810
Abstract: The invention concerns an adjustable striker assembly for use with a closure for a vehicle compartment, and a method of forming such a striker assembly. A striker has a shaft with a hoop extending from one end, and engagement rings extending around the shaft, defining at least one gap between the engagement rings, and being canted relative to an axial direction of the shaft. The engagement rings may include a detent or a catch. The assembly also includes a bracket, which may be molded around the striker, that includes partial threads extending into at least one of the gaps, and flexing fingers that may operatively engage the detents or catches on the engagement rings.

  • Patent number: 6834838
Abstract: A selectively deployable cupholder that incorporates the best aspects of the static and active component cupholder designs, composed of stationary cylindrical component and a movable cylindrical component that is telescopically nested within the stationary cylindrical component. When the movable cylindrical component is in an undeployed state, whereat it is fully nested with respect to the stationary cylindrical component, a low vertical profile is provided, suitable for drawer applications. When the movable cylindrical component is in a deployed state, whereat it is fully telescopically raised relative to the stationary cylindrical component, the cupholder receives beverage containers with a stable support as is required for the automotive driving environment.

  • Patent number: 4446809
Abstract: A transmission ratio indicator has a lens assembly with a ratio selection indicia imprinted thereon. The transmission selector lever or an indicator associated therewith is selectively movable to various ratios and is aligned with the indicia to indicate the transmission operating condition. The lens assembly is secured in a housing by a resilient member and interengaging toothed portions formed on the lens assembly and housing. The lens assembly toothed portion can be disengaged from the housing toothed portion by displacement of the resilient member through application of a force to the lens assembly. When tooth disengagement has been attained, the lens assembly can be moved in the housing to attain proper alignment of the indicia and the shift lever or indicator. The adjusted position of the lens assembly is maintained by the resilient member enforcing the reengagement of the toothed portions.
