  • Publication number: 20240108541
Abstract: A medical device uses UWB units to infer a position of an adjunct positioned in proximity to an exterior portion of a patient's body. The position information can be used to provide CPR feedback to a rescuer. In other applications, the position information can be used to provide prompts to a user to change the position of the adjunct.

  • Publication number: 20220125676
Abstract: Examples of the disclosure are directed to mechanical compression devices that can adjust a location of a compression position relative to a patient. One or more of the mechanical compression devices can adjust the compression position in an adjustment plane that is generally perpendicular to a patient. Some of the mechanical compression include support columns that have actuators that can be set asymmetrically to adjust the compression position and/or can be tilted relative to the backboard to adjust the compression position. Other examples includes mechanical compression devices that have multiple actuators that can be used to adjust the compression position as well as provide compressions.

  • Publication number: 20170368364
Abstract: Components of wearable cardiac defibrillator (WCD) systems, software, and methods are provided. A WCD system includes a support structure that a patient can wear and electrodes that can capture at least two of the patient's ECG signals. A component includes an energy storage module that can store an electrical charge, a discharge circuit, and a processor that can make a shock/no shock determination, and cause the discharge circuit to discharge the stored charge, if the determination is to shock. In some embodiments, the processor discards at least one of the ECG signals prior to making the shock/no shock determination. The determination can be made from the remaining one or more ECG signals. In some embodiments, the processor makes an aggregate shock/no shock determination from two or more of the ECG signals.

  • Publication number: 20160074667
Abstract: Embodiments of a WCD system include a measurement circuit that can render a physiological input from the patient. Such WCD systems may also receive a motion detection input that reveals whether a motion event has been detected by a motion detector. In some embodiments, a value becomes assigned to a motion level parameter in response to any motion event detected or not, and the rhythm analysis can be based on the physiological input and on the assigned value. In some embodiments, a rhythm analysis of the physiological input may be performed in different manners, depending on whether or not a motion event has been detected. In some embodiments, a different shock/no shock criterion may be applied to the rhythm analysis, depending on whether or not a motion event has been detected. The patient may receive an electrical shock according to a shock/no shock determination.

  • Publication number: 20140100496
Abstract: In one embodiment, a manual CPR device, also known as a CPR derrick, includes a frame that is put close to a patient who is on the ground. The device also includes a piston that can be moved up and down, and is aligned to be over the patient's chest. The device also has an actuator that the rescuer can operate manually so as to move the piston up and down, which will deliver compressions to the patient's chest. A bottom stop prevents the compressions from being too deep. In some embodiments, proper dimensioning of the CPR derrick permits the rescuer to perform CPR chest compressions while standing up, i.e. without kneeling. The rescuer may be able to perform higher quality CPR, and for a longer time, giving more opportunity to a life-saving team to arrive in time.
