  • Patent number: 4321358
Abstract: In the pre-curing of particulate poly(arylene sulfide) by contact with an oxygen-containing gas in a vessel at a temperature elevated to a range of about 10.degree. to about 70.degree. C. below the melt point of the resin, upon reaching the desired level of pre-cure, the particulate resin is contacted with water thereby rapidly to reduce the temperature level below the temperature at which curing occurs.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 2, 1980
Date of Patent: March 23, 1982
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
    Inventor: Robert P. Zelinski
  • Patent number: 4107236
Abstract: Polymers are prepared containing a hydrogenated block derived from low vinyl polybutadiene, and a hydrogenated block derived from medium vinyl polybutadiene. The polymers further can contain a block derived from a monovinyl-substituted aromatic compound. The polymers are ozone-resistant, thermoplastic elastomers, with improved high temperature tensile strengths.

Date of Patent: August 15, 1978
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Floyd E. Naylor, Robert P. Zelinski
  • Patent number: 4104332
Abstract: Alkali metal-terminated polymers of one or more alkadienes and of one or more vinyl-substituted aromatic monomers are effectively coupled by a di-, tri-, or tetra carboxylic acid halide of substituted or unsubstituted benzene.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 1977
Date of Patent: August 1, 1978
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
    Inventor: Robert P. Zelinski
  • Patent number: 4039633

    Inventor: Robert P. Zelinski
  • Patent number: 4012566
Abstract: The physical properties of rubbery polymers of conjugated dienes are modified by treatment with a homogeneous olefin disproportionation catalyst thereby modifying at least one of the properties of cold flow, inherent viscosity or Mooney viscosity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 10, 1975
Date of Patent: March 15, 1977
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Robert P. Zelinski, Rudolph H. Gath
  • Patent number: 3976630
Abstract: Rubbery polybutadiene containing at least 85 percent cis 1,4-addition can be made by polymerizing 1,3-butadiene with a catalyst formed from trialkylaluminum, for example, triethylaluminum, and titanium tetraiodide. The rubbery polybutadiene exhibits low hysteresis and is particularly useful in the manufacture of tires.
