  • Publication number: 20220244519
Abstract: A telescope including an optical alignment system. The telescope has a light collecting aperture, an imaging region for an imaging sensor, and comprises a plurality of optical elements between the light collecting aperture and the imaging region. The optical alignment system comprises a diffraction pattern on a surface of one of the optical elements, a light source to illuminate the diffraction pattern, and a metrology system to receive diffracted light from the light source after diffraction by the diffraction pattern. The metrology system is configured to characterize a wavefront of the diffracted light for determining an optical alignment of the telescope.

  • Publication number: 20210073648
Abstract: Described herein are semi-supervised machine learning techniques and associated computer-implemented applications. Some aspects provide a system configured to identify associations among data input to the system. In some embodiments, the system may map the input data to one or more vector spaces, such that associated groups of the input data form associated clusters in the vector space(s). For example, the mapping may be performed by one or more trained encoders (e.g., neural network encoders) of the system. Accordingly, a distance separating two data entries in a space may indicate a likelihood of association among the data entries. Various applications of such systems are described herein.

  • Publication number: 20200395099
Abstract: Described herein are systems and techniques for identifying polypeptides using data collected by a protein sequencing device. The protein sequencing device may collect data obtained from detected light emissions by luminescent labels during binding interactions of reagents with amino acids of the polypeptide. The light emissions may result from application of excitation energy to the luminescent labels. The device may provide the data as input to a trained machine learning model to obtain output that may be used to identify the polypeptide. The output may indicate, for each of a plurality of locations in the polypeptide, one or more likelihoods that one or more respective amino acids is present at the location. The output may be matched to an amino acid sequence that specifies a protein.

  • Publication number: 20050152078
Abstract: A shorting system, which eliminates persistent arcing faults in power distribution equipment, includes a first shorting switch having separable contacts, an actuation input and a fuse electrically connected in series with those contacts. A second shorting switch includes an actuation input and separable contacts, which are electrically connected in parallel with the series combination of the fuse and the first shorting switch contacts. A detection circuit includes one or more arcing light sensors and an actuation circuit. The light sensors detect arcing fault light and the actuation circuit responsively outputs a first trigger signal to the first shorting switch actuation input to close its contacts. For a persistent arcing fault, which is not eliminated by the first shorting switch, a predetermined time after the first trigger signal, the actuation circuit responsively outputs a second trigger signal to the second shorting switch actuation input to close its contacts.
