  • Patent number: 8515134
Abstract: A system and method for motion estimation involves obtaining input image frames, where the input image frames correspond to different instances in time, and performing motion estimation on the input image frames using depth information from the input image frames, where the depth information from an input image frame indicates how far a pixel in the input image frame is located from a surface of a three dimensional space.

  • Publication number: 20070177006
Abstract: A multiview display device (600) for displaying multiple views, the multiple views having respective viewing angles related to an object to be displayed is disclosed. The display device comprises optical means (1108) for displaying multiple viewing cones, a first one of the multiple viewing cones having an angular distribution (630) of the views relative to the display device; and driving means (1106) for providing the optical means (1108) with sets of image data corresponding to the respective views. The sets of image data are provided such that the angular distribution (630) has a first part of adjacent views with increasing viewing angle and a second part of adjacent views with decreasing viewing angle and the angular distribution (630) has a first one of the views in between a maximum view which corresponds to a maximum viewing angle and a minimum view which corresponds to a minimum viewing angle.

  • Publication number: 20070133886
Abstract: A digital image coding apparatus, generates a representation of spatially filtered images that are obtainable from a common source image by application of spatial filter operations with respective filter bandwidths. The dependence of image information in the filtered images on position in the filtered image and filter bandwidth is represented by information that defines a surface in a space that has at least the position in the filtered image and the filter bandwidth as coordinates. The shape and position of the surface at least partly defines said dependence. The apparatus receives an image signal that represents the source image as a function of position in the image. The apparatus then selects coordinate values of a set of control points. Selection includes selecting filter bandwidth components of the coordinate values, dependent on the image signal.

  • Publication number: 20060165282
Abstract: A image obtained by a camera is segmented into regions. Information about signs of curvature values of an intensity of the image is computed as a function of pixel location. Pixel locations are assigned to different segments, each according to one or more, or a combination of the signs for the pixel location. Preferably, each pixel location is assigned to a respective type of segment according to whether the signs of the curvature values in two mutually transverse directions at the pixel location are both positive or both negative respectively. Preferably spatial low pass filtering is used to control the number of segments that are found in this way.

  • Publication number: 20060078180
Abstract: An image processing system generates an output image from an input image through a depth-dependent transformation. The images are represented as respective pixel arrays. An input 1110 receives for each input pixel an associated input pixel value and input pixel depth. Each input pixel is associated with a respective reconstruction filter footprint. A video processor create the output pixels by, for each input pixel, transforming 1120 the input pixel to a transformed input pixel as a function of the associated input pixel depth and transforming 1150 the associated filter footprint to an transformed filter footprint as a function of the associated input pixel depth. The processor also performs a reconstruction filtering operation 1150 on a plurality of the transformed input pixels using the transformed filter footprints. An output 1160 is used for providing the output image for subsequent rendering.
