  • Publication number: 20070270291
Abstract: Exercise apparatus, for example of the type disclosed in the U.S. Pat. No. 6,705,976, is provided with a resistance source for exerting a counterforce to the force applied by the user. This resistance source includes at least two of (1) means, such as a cylindrical rod or the like, for removably holding one or more weights, (2) at least one hook or the like for removably attaching one or more springs, and (3) means for removably attaching one or more damping devices.

  • Publication number: 20070054786
Abstract: A system is disclosed for monitoring, recording and analysis of exercise in an exercise machine of the type which uses a cable, having a proximal end and a distal end, and a device, such as a handle, that enables a user to push or pull the proximal end of the cable against a resistance that is coupled to the distal end of the cable. A sensor or “load cell” mounted on the frame structure of the machine, for producing an electronic signal representing the instantaneous tensile force in the cable, and an electronic computer or the like, coupled to receive the electronic signal, for storing values representing the tensile force in the cable as a function of time.

  • Publication number: 20070032357
Abstract: A kit of parts is provided for assembly into exercise apparatus of various configurations, as desired and defined by the user. The apparatus, when configured to form a supporting cell, conveniently allows the attachment of a plurality of exercise devices of the same or different type while, in addition, can be used as a storage center for items normally found at a fitness center such as bands, weights, balls, bars, barbells, etc.

  • Publication number: 20060240956
Abstract: Exercise apparatus is disclosed which enables a user to pull a cable against a source of resistance from a pulley arranged at one of a number of points around a substantially circular arc.

  • Publication number: 20060105888
Abstract: Exercise equipment of the type comprising a frame structure; a handle coupled to the frame structure and adapted for movement by a user, back and forth in a first direction and in an opposite second direction; and at least one weight, coupled to the handle for applying a gravitational force to the handle in the second direction. According to the invention, a spring device, having two ends, is coupled to the handle at one end and to the frame structure at the opposite end to apply a spring force to the handle in the second direction. With proper choice of the spring constant of the spring device, when the handle is rapidly moved by the user in the first direction and then suddenly moved in the second direction, the total force applied to the handle in the second direction is maintained above minimum threshold value which is sufficient for “high-speed training”.

  • Publication number: 20060040801
Abstract: Exercise apparatus, for example of the type disclosed in the U.S. Pat. No. 6,705,976, is provided with (a) a specially designed “force transfer device” which is coupled to a handle such that it is raised upward when the handle is pushed or pulled-by a user, and (b) means for exerting a counterforce resistance in the downward direction on the force transfer device when the force transfer device is lifted upward. According to the invention, this resistance exerting means includes at least one of (1) means, such as a substantially horizontal rod or the like, for removably holding one or more weights, (2) at least one hook or the like for removably attaching one or more springs, and (3) means for removably attaching one or more damping devices.

  • Publication number: 20060030459
Abstract: Exercise apparatus of the type disclosed in the U.S. Pat. No. 6,705,976 is provided with (a) a specially designed “force transfer device” which is coupled to the distal end(s) of the tension cable(s) such that it is raised upward when the proximal end of a cable is pulled by a user, and (b) means for exerting a counterforce in the downward direction on the force transfer device when the force transfer device is raised upward by a cable. According to the invention, this counterforce exerting means includes at least one of (1) a substantially horizontal, cylindrical rod or the like for removably holding one or more weights, (2) at least one hook or the like for removably attaching one or more springs, and (3) means for attaching one or more damping devices.
