  • Patent number: 8813967
Abstract: A classifier [100] is disclosed that employs adjustable vanes [140] that may be interactively adjusted to change the distribution of fuel particle sizes that are passed on to a furnace. The classifier employs a frame [133] having a plurality of windows [131] each having an adjustable vane [140]. A control ring [160] is rotated with respect to the frame [133] to simultaneously move links [150] connected between the control ring [160] and the vanes [140]. This causes the vanes [140] to open or close, changing the air flow path and changing the size distribution of particles passing through the classifier [100] to the furnace. The system may include an adjustment system [260] that can automatically sense particle size to optimize several physical parameters related to particle size.

  • Patent number: 5752705
Abstract: A piston ring being planar, having a dished section and a planform giving desired radial pressure distribution on a co-operating cylinder wall and which ring is made form a steel resistant to stress relieving at the piston ring operating temperature. The dishing may be either positive or negative and may lie in the range from 0.025 to 0.75 mm. A method and apparatus are also described for the manufacture of such rings.

  • Patent number: 4468040
Abstract: An annular spacer-expander spaces and positions two rails in a piston ring groove of a piston for an internal combustion engine. The spacer-expander comprises a plurality of U-shaped members which lie in respective angularly spaced planes including the spacer-expander axis and whose arms open inwardly of the spacer-expander for urging radially inner ends of respective rails into contact with respective radial walls of the piston ring groove. The U-shaped members are interlinked in serpentine fashion to give the spacer-expander circumferential resilience. The ends of the U-shaped members are bent outwardly for urging the rails into contact with an associated cylinder or liner. A plurality of rail spacer lugs are provided for controlling axial movement of the radially outer ends of the rails. Each ring spacer lug is located between a pair of adjacent U-shaped members and is connected to that portion of one of the pair which forms the base of the U.
