Publication number: 20240411950Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for an access controlled power grid model. A power grid model can include multiple regions. Access can be provided only to a subset of regions based on access privileges, and the user can be denied access to regions of the power grid model outside of the subset. A simulation can be executed using input from the user and can include simulation parameters for at least one of the regions in the subset. The simulation can be executed on the regions of the power grid model in the subset and at least one additional region that is not in the subset. The simulation can produce results that can include electrical values of components in the regions within the subset and values of components in at least one additional region. The output can include only the simulation results for regions within the subset.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2024Publication date: December 12, 2024Inventors: Hamed Khalilinia, Raymond Daly, Arthur Robert Pope, Sushant Kumar, Sergei Babinskii, Phillip Ellsworth Stahlfeld, Laura Elizabeth Fedoruk, Aryeh Benjamin Hillman

Publication number: 20230237644Abstract: Methods, computer systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for training a classification neural network. The system generates, from a set of object-specific data, one or more meta-learning datasets for one or more respective initial training tasks. The system determines values for a set of meta parameters by performing meta-learning with a classification neural network on the one or more meta-learning datasets. The system obtains a set of labeled training examples for a characteristic-detection task. The system determines based at least on one of the values for the set of meta parameters and using the set of labeled training examples, target values for the network parameters for the classification neural network to perform the characteristic-detection task.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2023Publication date: July 27, 2023Inventors: Ananya Gupta, Phillip Ellsworth Stahlfeld, Kshitij Naresh Nikhal, Om Prakash Ravi, Aviva Cheryl Shwaid, Arthur Robert Pope, Xinyue Li

Patent number: 10210286Abstract: Computer-implemented methods and systems of detecting curbs include receiving a cloud of three-dimensional (3D) data points acquired along street locations. A plurality of vertical scanlines (e.g., arrays of 3D data points obtained at given horizontal locations) are identified within the cloud of 3D data points. One or more curb points indicating the potential presence of a curb in the plurality of vertical scanlines are identified. A synthesized set of non-overlapping curb curves are generated in order to close gaps between certain curb points while removing certain other outlier curb points. Successive curb curves in the synthesized set of non-overlapping curb curves are then identified as belonging to one or more curb segments.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2017Date of Patent: February 19, 2019Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Arthur Robert Pope, Ioannis Stamos

Patent number: 9765901Abstract: A fluid flow control valve comprising an outer casing with an inner valve member displaceable between first and second positions within the casing, the valve member including passages which interconnect different valve inlets and outlets dependent on whether the valve member is in its first or second position, the valve member being made from plastic material so that the diameter of the valve member can be increased without increasing its weight above that of a conventional metal inner valve member. This allows the passages through the inner valve member to be of the same internal diameter as the tubing leading up to and away from the valve. The valve member can be acted upon by a magnetic restoring means which tends to return the valve member towards its first position when displaced therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2013Date of Patent: September 19, 2017Assignee: WARWICK MUSIC LIMITEDInventors: Karl Harper, Matthew Robert Pope

Patent number: 9305241Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing a point cloud data set are provided. According to aspects of the present disclosure, a method includes receiving a point of a point cloud data set, the point having three-dimensional coordinates. The point's coordinates are mapped to a location to determine whether a different point's coordinates have already been mapped to the location. The point is discarded when a different point's coordinates have been mapped to the location.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2013Date of Patent: April 5, 2016Assignee: Google Inc.Inventor: Arthur Robert Pope

Patent number: 9240055Abstract: The aspects described herein relate to replacing pixels in images in order to remove obstructions from images. In one example, an image of a scene having symmetrical features and image information identifying at least one pixel of the image corresponding to a hole to be filled may be received. This hole may correspond to an obstruction in the image. A set of symmetry axes may be identified based on the symmetrical features. A symmetry map identifying correspondences between different pixels in the image based on the set of symmetry axes may be generated. A correspondence between the at least one pixel corresponding to a hole to be filled and a second pixel of the image is identified based at least in part on the symmetry map and the image information. The at least one pixel may be altered based on the identified correspondence in order to remove the obstruction.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2014Date of Patent: January 19, 2016Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Yanxi Liu, Arthur Robert Pope, Vivek Verma, Stephen Charles Hsu
