  • Patent number: 8230612
Abstract: An apparatus and method for assessing the straightness of a flight control rod installed in an aircraft. The apparatus including a solid straight bar with a first end and a second end and two rod fixtures. The bar removably attachable to the rod fixtures that are in turn removably attachable to a flight control rod. The flight control rod may be removably inserted into rod fixture rod slots such that there is a measurable gap between the bar attached to the rod fixtures and the flight control rod to which they are attached.

  • Publication number: 20070031656
Abstract: A metallized film and a process for making the film are disclosed. In general, the metallized film includes a polymeric film layer that is coated with a polyester coating composition. A metal layer is then formed on top of the polyester coating. The polyester coating acts as a tie layer between the metal layer and the underlying film. The polyester film composition may be formed from, in one embodiment, isophthalic acid, a sulfomonomer, and 2-methyl 1,3-propane diol. The above diol has been found to improve adhesion between the metal layer and the polymeric film layer.

  • Publication number: 20070031654
Abstract: A coating compositions for providing substrates with oxygen barrier properties is disclosed. The substrate may be, for instance, a film, such as a polyester film. The coating composition includes a copolymer of maleic acid and acrylic acid and a copolymer of vinyl alcohol and a vinylamine. The barrier coating formed from the coating composition is typically less than about 1 micron in thickness and provides reduced oxygen transmission even at relatively high relative humidities.

  • Publication number: 20050163986
Abstract: A shrinkable polymer film including a modified polyester resin polymerized from monomers including a dicarboxylic acid and a glycol, wherein the glycol includes 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol, and wherein the polymer film shrinks at least about 50% in a main shrinkage direction after ten seconds in an 80 degree Celsius hot water bath.

  • Patent number: 6709735
Abstract: A film with excellent oxygen barrier properties is disclosed. A barrier coating used thereon is also disclosed, including polyvinyl alcohol and a copolymer of maleic acid and acrylic acid, and wherein the copolymer of maleic acid and acrylic acid has a weight average molecular weight of about 3500 to about 5000. The barrier coating is typically less than about 1 micrometer in thickness and provides an oxygen barrier of less than about 0.3 cc.mil/100 in2/day/atm when tested at 23 degrees Celsius and 0 percent relative humidity according to ASTM D3985. A method of stripping low molecular eight fractions from the copolymer is also disclosed. Metallized coated film according to the present invention shows surprising barrier properties.
