Patent number: 7752672Abstract: A communications port of a network communications device maintains capability information indicating that under normal operating conditions a communications link is capable of operating in a secure mode in which communications signals of the communications link are unintelligible to an intruder having an unauthorized physical connection (e.g. tap) to the communications link. During operation, the port detects occurrence of a link event of a type that can invoke an automatic communications-mode control mechanism to change the operating of the communications link to a non-secure mode in which communications signals of the communications link are intelligible to such an intruder. An example is Ethernet auto-negotiation which can change from relatively secure 1000BaseT signaling to relatively non-secure 10/100BaseT signaling.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2006Date of Patent: July 6, 2010Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Roger Karam, Robert Pryor Beliles, Jr.

Patent number: 7437755Abstract: The present invention provides an access control server that holds information pertaining to both network access and facility access. The access control server enforces policies based on location, type of resource, time of day, duration, or other events, and logs all successful and unsuccessful attempts to access a given resource whether it be on the network or at the facility. The access control server operates off a common list or table of attributes and policies, or separate lists or tables of attributes and policies that are arbitrated by a credential verification and policy engine. This unified access control server implements protocols that work with network and/or physical premises-based devices. The unified access control server allows events in the facility to be associated with events on the network and vice versa and direct policies that may be executed in the physical or network realm.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2005Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Mark William Farino, Mark Anthony Kolar, David Christopher Twinam, Robert Pryor Beliles, Jr.

Publication number: 20070181339Abstract: A semiconductor device, such as a RF LDMOS, having a ground shield that has a pair of stacked metal layers. The first metal layer extends along the length of the semiconductor device and is formed on the upper surface of the semiconductor device body. The first layer has a series of regularly spaced apart lateral first slots. The second metal layer, coextensive with and located above the first metal layer, has a series of regularly spaced apart lateral second slots. The second slots overlie the spaces between the first slots, and the continuous portions of the second metal layer overlie the first slots. The slots are substantially parallel to wires extending over the ground shield. The ground shield is not limited to only two metal layers. The ground shield has a repeating unit design that facilitates automated design.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2006Publication date: August 9, 2007Inventors: Xiaowei Ren, Robert Pryor, Daniel Lamey

Publication number: 20050273592Abstract: A method for transferring data between a first computer and a second computer. The first computer sends a first request to the second computer in a first connection. The first request includes a request to start a session, an encrypted ID of the session, and an encrypted hash value for information in the first request. The information in the first request comprises the request to start the session and the encrypted session ID. The second computer receives the first request, and as a result, decrypts the encrypted hash value in the first request, independently determines a hash value for the information in the first request and compares the independently determined hash value to the decrypted hash value. If there is match, the second computer starts a session with the first computer. Subsequently, the first computer sends a second request to the second computer in a second connection in the session.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2004Publication date: December 8, 2005Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Robert Pryor, Marc Steinbrecher

Patent number: 4044515Abstract: An avionic tray is disclosed for supporting electronic instruments on a shelf. The tray includes an aperture formed thereon for providing the supporting instrument with communication to an air plenum chamber. An interchangeable metering plate is adapted to extend over the aperture, with the plate having a predetermined number of metering ports formed thereon in any desired arrangement. The metering plate is interconnected to the aperture by means of a removable annular gasket, which in turn sealingly engages a surface of the electronic instrument. The gasket includes a pair of annular grooves for receiving the peripheral edges of the metering plate and the tray aperture. The gasket is constructed in such a manner that any application of a downward or lateral force on the gasket by the supported instrument causes the metering plate to be forced against the rim of the aperture to tightly hold the portion of the gasket between the two elements and prevent the gasket from becoming disengaged.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1974Date of Patent: August 30, 1977Assignee: Hollingsead-Pryor Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Robert A.
