  • Patent number: 7040637
Abstract: A rollator with a tubular frame assembly includes a pair of U-shaped side frames connected by a front brace. Each side frame has a cross bar that extends between front legs and back legs of the frame. The side frames are pivotably attached to the front brace so that the side frames can fold inwardly. The rollator has a molded rigid seat that is mounted on pivot brackets to allow it to pivot upwardly out of the way of the user. The pivot brackets have an offset axis of rotation so that the seat is arranged in a curved area of the front brace when pivoted upwardly.

  • Patent number: 6105183
Abstract: A transfer bench facilitates assembly and allows for ease of reversibility. Particularly, a seat has a seat portion secured to a frame assembly. A seat back is removably connected to the seat and frame assembly depending on whether the bathtub is a right-hand or left-hand tub. A preferred arrangement is to use a pair of L-shaped members, one leg of which receives the seat back and the second leg of which extends through openings in the seat portion. Spring biased snap buttons snap fit in place and removably secure the seat back to the remainder of the transfer bench.

  • Patent number: 6006369
Abstract: A portable commode comprises legs which support a tubular frame. The frame defines a chair-like configuration that includes an arm support and front and rear parallel horizontal cross bar members. A seat has an integrally molded seat clamp that projects from a rear portion thereof. The seat clamp has a groove that is situated away from a bottom plane of the seat and configured for locking receipt on, and pivotal movement about, the rear cross bar member. The commode also includes a lid which has an integrally molded lid clamp that projects from a rear portion thereof. The lid clamp has a groove that is situated diametrically away from a bottom plane of the lid and is configured for pivotal receipt on the rear cross bar member.

  • Patent number: 5529425
Abstract: A locking assembly for use with a foldable walker having a pair of side frames, each having a tubular front leg concentrically contained within an end sleeve of a cross brace, includes a housing secured to each of the side frame front legs. Each housing closely receives a locking pin extending through a first bore. The locking pin is movable between first and second positions and includes a locking end which extends into an aperture of a lock plate connected to the end sleeve of the cross brace. An actuating lever pivotally connected to the housing includes a force applying handle which, when depressed, causes the lever to rotate about a pivot point and raise the locking pin from the lock plate aperture thus allowing the side frame to rotate with respect to the cross brace.

  • Patent number: 5038430
Abstract: A bed side-guard assembly for a bed with bed frame memebrs comprises a side rail which extends generally along the length of the bed in the vertical plane. The side rail is supported by downwardly depending legs. A cross brace extends generally across the width of the bed in the horizontal plane. The ends of the cross brace have receiving means to receive the side rail legs. Attaching means for securing the cross brace to the bed frame members are mounted on each end of the cross brace. The attaching means includes a housing and resilient means. The housing features a nose end which fits beneath a portion of the bed frame member while the resilient means grippingly engages the bed frame member between the nose end and the resilient means.

  • Patent number: 4724559
Abstract: A bed rail (A) includes a first vertical end member (10) and a second vertical end member (12) between which cross members (14, 16, 18) and telescopically received stub members (30, 32, 34) extend. The spacer member (B) is connected between free ends of some of the cross members to maintain the positional stability. A pair of brackets (C) slidingly receive the vertical end members. The brackets each includes a slot (64) which is dimensioned with an appropriate width to receive the cross members or the stub members adjacent their interconnection with the end members. A spring biased member (80) is biased by a spring (82) into engagement with a locking aperture (68) in the bracket. A bracket cam surface (66) cams the spring biased member inward as the bed side rail is raised. A knob (84) enables an operator to withdraw the spring biased member to lower the side rail.
