  • Patent number: 4712054
Abstract: To a controller utilizing thyristors have been added delayed resetting circuits connected to timing circuits for enabling delayed firing, and also circuits for inverting polarity of error signal in order to accommodate regenerative and reverse-plug braking. Other additional circuits include circuits for controlling a ramp generator for developing different segments of a ramp required for different modes of operation of a motor. Sequence switching circuits in the circuits controlling operation of the motor determine that full acceleration or deceleration of a selected mode is completed before a newly selected mode is started.

  • Patent number: 4580640
Abstract: A pickup is connected to a system of sheaves of a mobile hydraulic hammer for providing a signal proportional to velocity of a hammer weight. The pickup is connected to the input of a differentiating circuit, and the output of the differentiating circuit is connected to the starting input of an electronic timer. Two-level output of the timer is connected to hydraulic valves that control the lifting and dropping of a hammer weight. The signal applied to the starting input of the timer has two states, one state resulting from any noticeable acceleration of the hammer weight and the other state resulting from zero acceleration. The timer starts in response to zero acceleration at the time of impact of the hammer weight and provides a signal to cause the hammer weight to be lifted without delay to a predetermined height according to a predetermined timing period, the height always being with reference to the level at which impact occurred.

  • Patent number: 4340886
Abstract: A system for monitoring the temperature of a plurality of bearings and motors, for example in a grain elevator, includes a plurality of sensors associated with the respective bearings and motors whose temperatures are to be monitored. A first circuit energizes a display for providing a readout of the temperature at each sensor location, and a second circuit compares the temperature at each sensor with a maximum desired temperature for its associated bearing or motor, and energizes an alarm when this desired maximum is exceeded. A third circuit drives a display indentifying the sensor being monitored by the first and second circuits. A malfunction detector circuit produces an observable indication in response to an open circuit condition at any of the sensors.

  • Patent number: 4251759
Abstract: A monitor for detecting the relative velocity between a moving body or surface and a fixed body or surface includes a sensor having an actuator member, such as a wheel having magnetic pole pieces embedded therein and mounted for rotation proportional to the relative velocity between the two bodies or surfaces, and a pick-up member such as a coil or inductor, mounted adjacent the actuator for producing an electrical signal in response thereto. An electric circuit is connected to the pick-up member to receive the electrical signals therefrom and produce a plurality of indication signals in response thereto, including indication signals corresponding to the relative velocity being at or below one or more predetermined levels. The monitor also includes a plurality of indicators connected to the circuit and responsive to the indication signals therefrom, such as lights or audible alarms.

  • Patent number: 4168466
Abstract: A continuous flow moisture tester includes first and second electrodes defining a capacitive-type test cell. The first electrode comprises a generally cylindrical tube of electrically conductive material, and the second electrode comprises a generally planar body of electrically conductive material disposed adjacent an inner wall of said first electrode member to define a substantially unobstructed passageway between the electrode members. Material carrying members are connected at an inlet and outlet of the passageway for providing a substantially constant flow of material therethrough and for maintaining the passageway substantially evenly filled with flowing material. An electrical circuit is connected with the test cell for producing a signal corresponding to the moisture content of the material flowing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4058766
Abstract: As in prior testers, a capacitive cell in which material is placed to be tested is connected in a voltage divider circuit. However, signal generating means connected to the voltage divider applies voltages at different predetermined frequencies selected for the material being tested, and frequency selective means connected to the cell develop voltages at the applied frequencies having values dependent on the impedance of the filled cell at the respective frequencies. These voltages developed across the cell are applied to a computer that provides an output according to an equation that has been derived statistically from many samples of the material being tested for the substance or quality of the material being measured.
