  • Publication number: 20090218921
Abstract: An assembly and method for securing and supporting electronic components in a computer node disposed on a computer rack. The method comprises the steps of first disposing a tray having one or more wedge block assemblies in the rear of said rack such that each wedge block assembly can be moved under and engaged with each node. The wedge block mechanism is retained from side to side using guide brackets. The mechanism and the tray are then torques into place by using incorporated hard stop feature on said tray. The nodes can then be engaged and disengaged through the engaging and disengaging of the wedge block assembly. This is done by using a rod that is connected to a fastener one end and to a pivot at another end and is integrated into the wedge block mechanism. Once the fastener is moved the pivot is also moved causing the mating and unmating of the node.

  • Patent number: 7584160
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for creating optimized sub-projects for a project. Boundary conditions, input regarding output objects, and input regarding “as-is” data sources are received. The output objects are decomposed into data objects and logical processes used to create the output objects. Value clusters are determined. The data objects are organized into “to be” data structures and the “to be” which are mapped to the “as-is” data sources. Additional processes are determined for moving data from a source to a target. An affinity matrix is created based on the value clusters. Finally, an optimization operation is executed with an optimization engine to produce the optimized sub-projects. The optimization engine takes as inputs the above information.

  • Publication number: 20090216062
Abstract: Attenuating masks for selective attenuation of radiation, particularly from an x-ray source in brachytherapy, employ materials having atomic number in a specific range, so as to attenuate radiation dose intensity generally proportionally through a range of distance from the source. Some preferred attenuation materials are silver and molybdenum. A set of small masks can be provided for a particular design of catheter that holds a radiation source, each mask having a size and shape to define a different solid angle of masking, so that in a brachytherapy procedure, sensitive tissue such as bone or skin can be protected by proper selection of and positioning of the attenuating mask, to reduce the dose intensity to that tissue.

  • Patent number: 7580837
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for targeted tuning of a speech recognition system. A method incorporating teachings of the present disclosure may include deploying a speech recognition module to apply an appropriate interpretation to a plurality of utterance types. The method may also include accessing information representing a collection of recorded utterances and assigned interpretation for each of the plurality of recorded utterances. The assigned interpretation for each of the plurality of recorded utterances may then be compared to an accurate interpretation for each of the plurality of utterance, and a separate accuracy value may be determined for each of the plurality of utterance types. With some implementations, if the separate accuracy value for a given type of utterance is too low, a selection of utterances having the given type may be used to tune the speech recognition module.

  • Publication number: 20090208209
Abstract: The present invention describes a microresonator that can be used as a 1:f variable coupler in a unit cell. It is described how a cascade of unit cells can be used to form a tunable, higher-order RF-filter with reconfigurable passbands. The disclosed filter structure can be utilized for the narrowband channelization of RF signals that have been modulated onto optical carriers. It is also disclosed how to utilize add/drop capabilities of the contemplated microdisks to confer connectivity and cascading in two dimensions. The present invention can conveniently provide a wavelength division multiplexing router, where an array of unit cells as provided herein can form a programmable optical switching matrix, through electronic programming of filter parameters.

  • Publication number: 20090208054
Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for identifying positional data for an object moving in an area of interest. Positional data for each camera in a set of cameras associated with the object is retrieved. The positional data identifies a location of each camera in the set of cameras within the area of interest. The object is within an image capture range of each camera in the set of cameras. Metadata describing video data captured by the set of cameras is analyzed using triangulation analytics and the positional data for the set of cameras to identify a location of the object. The metadata is generated in real time as the video data is captured by the set of cameras. The positional data for the object is identified based on locations of the object over a given time interval. The positional data describes motion of the object.

  • Publication number: 20090209320
Abstract: An electronic amusement device and a method for operating the device are disclosed. In accordance with the present invention, a slot machine server controls a secondary game of chance played at a client slot machine. The server receives a player identifier corresponding to a player and a client identifier corresponding to a client slot machine. The server retrieves registration data relating to a secondary game of chance corresponding to the player identifier and the client identifier. The server further receives an outcome from the client slot machine and analyzes the outcome based on game requirements associated with the secondary game of chance, thereby determining whether the outcome satisfies at least one of the game requirements. Once all of the game requirements have been satisfied, the server updates a session status indicating the completion of the game requirements.

  • Patent number: 7575282
Abstract: A foldable head restraint has two head restraint supports set within a bracket. A latch is made integral with at least one of the head restraint supports. The latch rests against a stop to prohibit rotation of the head restraint support in a first direction. The latch rests against a rotational cam to prohibit movement of the head restraint support in a second direction. By rotating the cam, the head restraint support may be folded. The head restraint support is comprised of a metal substrate with over-molded plastic geometry to accept a mating part configured within the head restraint bun. The geometry of the metal substrate and over-molded plastic geometry allow for a reduction, or even elimination, of the slots that are normally required for such a folding head restraint. This ability to fold can yield greater rearward visibility and aid in the kinematic motion of the seat.

  • Patent number: 7577330
Abstract: Connectorized nano-engineered optical fibers and method for forming them are disclosed. The methods include heating a mid-span bare fiber portion of the nano-engineered fiber to collapse the airlines therein so as to form an airline-free portion. The fiber is then inserted into a ferrule channel so that the fiber end protrudes beyond the ferrule end face, but with the airline-free portion positioned at the ferrule end face. The fiber is then cleaved at or near the ferrule end face in the airline-free portion, and the new fiber end face polished to create a solid fiber end face that coincides with the ferrule end face. The methods result in at most only minimal changes to the mode field diameter (MFD) and/or to the outer cladding diameter, which is essential in forming a connectorized nano-engineered fiber that can connect to like-size nano-engineered or non-nano-engineered fibers.
