  • Patent number: 4824557
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for immediately and intimately mixing a fluidizable cracking catalyst with a fluid hydrocarbon in a riser reactor. The process involves passing the hydrocarbon through a stationary fluid feedstock feed means in fixed relationship with the upstream end of the riser. The feedstock is atomized by a nozzle attached to the downstream end of the feed means. A hollow plug valve positioned concentrically around the feed means is capable of moving in a reciprocating fashion to permit the flow of catalyst to the riser.

  • Patent number: 4711766
Abstract: The present invention relates to a plug valve which effects the immediate and intimate mixing of fluidizable cracking catalyst with a fluid hydrocarbon in a riser reactor. Further, a stationary guide tube is located around a portion of the plug valve stem so as to define an upper and a lower annular compartment which are separated by a bushing. Bushings also define the upper end of the upper compartment and the lower end of the lower compartment. Each of the annular compartments has a bleed medium conduit connected thereto.

  • Patent number: 4624836
Abstract: A plug valve which effects the immediate and intimate mixing of fluidizable cracking catalyst with a fluid hydrocarbon in a riser reactor. Specifically there is an elongated feed tube extending generally upwardly through the acess opening into the riser, anda plug valve having a generally upright tubular valve stem positioned concentrically and externally around a portion of the feed tube and a hollow plug secured to the valve stem which is engageable with said access opening, where the plug valve is movable in a reciprocating fashion from a closed position for blocking the access opening to an open position for permitting the flow of cracking catalyst through the access opening into the riser reactor.

  • Patent number: 4394349
Abstract: An apparatus for the fluidized catalytic cracking of a hydrocarbon feedstock comprises a riser reactor and a collar positioned along the same axis as the downstream end of the riser reactor. The collar is further positioned in close proximity to, but not in contact with, the riser reactor such that an annular space is defined between the riser reactor and the collar. The collar has a diameter greater than the diameter of the riser reactor at its downstream end and communicates directly and laterally with the inlets of the cyclone separation system. The riser reactor may or may not include a flow reversal cap to redirect the flow of the hydrocarbons and the catalyst.
