  • Patent number: 4975170
Abstract: An improved gel plate assembly for electrophoresis, is described. It comprises glass-like sheet supports between which is placed the gel, at least the back support being a composite comprising a thermally conductive plate in contact with the glass-like sheet; and in contact with the conductive plate, a glass-like sheet that serves as a replacement support, when the composite is reversed, if the first sheet is scratched.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 4, 1990
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
    Inventor: Robert R. Hellman, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4865715
Abstract: There is described an electrophoresis device having a support for a gel plate assembly, and means for clamping such plate assemblies to the support. The support provides a surface that is inclined at an angle of between about 5.degree. and about 10.degree. from the vertical, so that the bottom of the plate is closer to the user than is the top.

  • Patent number: 4828669
Abstract: There is disclosed an electrophoresis device comprising a gel plate assembly on a support, and an upper and a lower buffer tank. At least one of such tanks includes means for releasably mounting the at least one tank in liquid contact with the interior of the gel plate assembly and in removable position on the support, the releasable mounting means including a clamp that biases the at least one tank against the support with the gel plate assembly held between the at least one tank and the support.

  • Patent number: 4802969
Abstract: A gel plate assembly is described for use in an electrophoresis device. It comprises a glass plate having a front and rear surface, and means for confining a gel in contact with the front surface over a flow surface area. On the rear surface, there is provided in back of the flow surface area, means for evenly distributing temperature over that area, and/or mirror coating.

Date of Patent: February 7, 1989
    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
    Inventor: Robert R. Hellman, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4800010
Abstract: There is disclosed a releasable locking mechanism for holding a rotating device in place. The mechanism is particularly adapted for use with an electrophoresis device comprising a support for mounting at least one gel plate assembly in a generally vertical orientation, a pair of buffer tanks for each gel plate assembly, means for mounting the pair of tanks at opposite ends of each gel plate assembly, and means for applying a current at the opposite ends of each plate assembly. The locking mechanism preferably features a two-position push latch and either a lock plate provided with teeth or a disk brake, the latch being positioned to directly or indirectly cause engagement of the teeth of the plate or brake when in one of its two positions.

  • Patent number: 4158812
Abstract: A radio control system having a plurality of individually adjustable manual controls for individually signaling the position to be assumed by each of a plurality of remotely located servo units and in which one manual control is interconnected to alter a plurality of servo signals with the extent of altering being capable of adjustment, reversing, centering and/or overshooting.

Inventors: Robert R. Hellman, Douglas M. French
  • Patent number: 4091328
Abstract: A system for individually adjusting a plurality of remotely located servo units according to the position of a manual control for each servo unit by broadcasting a carrier wave that is switched on and off for division into repeating sequences with the reset signal to repeat a sequence having a short broadcast duration followed by a long silent period and in which the shifting of the control from one servo unit to the next in a sequence is directed by the leading edge of a broadcast period that occurs in a sequence for each servo unit and which is of the same duration as the reset broadcast signal to thereby decrease the total broadcast time for each sequence while also reducing the possibility of interference by extraneous signals.

    Filed: June 30, 1976
Date of Patent: May 23, 1978
    Assignee: Westport International, Inc.
Inventors: Robert R. Hellman, Douglas M. French
  • Patent number: 4072898
Abstract: A system for individually adjusting a plurality of remotely located servo units according to the position of a manual control for each servo unit by transmitting a carrier wave that is switched on and off for division into repeating sequences with each sequence having a segment for each servo unit and with each segment including a broadcast period and a silent period with the duration of the silent period being related to the position of the segments' manual control for controlling the adjustment of the servo unit by pulse width modulation.

  • Patent number: 4017699
Abstract: Two single pole flexible blade snap switches are mounted together to have both actuated essentially simultaneously by the same position of a common element by mechanically connecting together but electrically insulating the free ends of the two blades.

  • Patent number: 4006329
Abstract: A device for providing a measurement of the value of the ratio of two pressures by sensing the position of a member that is urged in one direction by one pressure and oppositely by the other pressure with the element further having both pressures set against the same movable support of the element. A third pressure of essentially a high vacuum acts on the remainder of the element not acted on by the other pressures and minimizes the effects of temperature while enabling the device to be precise over a wide range of pressures.
