Abstract: Novel herbicidal composition comprising(1) a herbicidally active acetanilide and(2) as an antidote against damage to crop plants, N,N-diallyl-dichloroacetamide of the formula ##STR1##

Abstract: Novel N-(2,5-diazolyl)-alkyl-halogenoacetanilides of the general formmula ##STR1## in which A represents oxygen, sulphur or the grouping >NR,whereinR represents alkyl,R.sup.1 represents hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy,R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen,R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen,R.sup.4 represents hydrogen or alkyl,R.sup.5 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, dialkylamino, halogen, cyano or alkoxycarbonyl andZ represents halogen, and acid addition salts and metal salt complexes thereof are outstandingly effective as herbicides.Furthermore novel N-(2,5-diazolyl)-alkyl-anilines of the general formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and A have the above-mentioned meaning.

Abstract: Herbicidal compositions containing as active ingredients (1) 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea of the formula ##STR1## and (2) at least one N-substituted halogenoacetanilide of the general formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.1 represents methyl or ethyl,R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or methyl andR.sup.3 represents hydrogen or methyl,are very useful for selectively combating weeds.

Abstract: Novel benzyl ethers of cyclic 1,1-diols, of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is phenyl or substituted phenyl,R.sup.2 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, haloalkyl or --CHX--R.sup.1,X is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, haloalkyl, phenyl or substituted phenyl,Y and Y' are individually selected from hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl and substituted phenyl andA is saturated or unsaturated alkylene or substituted alkylene;have been found outstandingly effective as herbicides, particularly as selective herbicides.

Abstract: A herbicidally active compound of the empirical formula C.sub.10 H.sub.14 N.sub.6 O.sub.3, exhibiting substantially the IR KBr-absorption spectrum shown in FIG. 2, is produced by aerobic culturing of a micro-organism of the family of the Actinoplanaceae under aerobic conditions in a nutrient medium which contains an assimilable carbon source, at least one assimilable nitrogen source and mineral salts, at a pH of 6 to 8 and a temperature of 20.degree. to 40.degree. C.

Abstract: New heterocyclic-substituted 1,3,4,-thiadiazole derivatives of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is alkyl, alkenyl, haloalkyl, optionally substituted aralkyl, optionally substituted aryl, alkylthio, alkylsulfonyl, alkylsulfoxyl, aralkylthio, aralkylsulfonyl or aralkylsulfoxyl,R.sup.2 is methyl or ethyl, andn is 1 or 2,are surprisingly effective as herbicides and are particularly useful as selective herbicides for combating grasses, especially in crops of cereals or cotton.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the treatment of substantially amorphous polyolefins to provide permanently tacky, low viscosity materials which have useful pressure-sensitive adhesive properties. These permanently tacky amorphous polyolefin homo- and copolymers, as well as blends of such amorphous polyolefins with crystalline polyolefins containing up to 20 weight percent crystalline polyolefin, are novel pressure-sensitive adhesives.
