  • Patent number: 5551826
Abstract: A skid steer loader having a main frame including a compartment in which an engine, hydraulic drive components and other elements are contained. A cab is mounted above the compartment on the main frame with load bearing side walls extending upwardly to define an operator control area therebetween. Pivotally mounted on such walls is a boom structure including a pair of arms and a mounting assembly. An engine is operatively associated with the boom structure for raising and lowering each of the pair of arms along a generally vertical path adjacent a corresponding load bearing side wall to which it is coupled by the mounting assembly. A unique noise isolation mounting arrangement is used to couple the cab structure to the main frame, on which cab the entire boom structure is mounted.

  • Patent number: 4862684
Abstract: An agricultural baler comprises a bale case having an inlet opening in one side wall thereof; a plunger mounted for reciprocation within the bale case and back-and-forth across the inlet opening; a feeder duct communicating at one end with the inlet opening in the bale case and curving forwardly therefrom; the feeder duct comprising a pair of curved opposed wall means of which is movable relative to the other; and feeder means cooperable with the feeder duct to accumulate a charge of crop material therein and then stuff that charge into the bale case. The movable wall means is movable relative to the other wall means along substantially its entire length such that one cross sectional dimension of the feeder duct is variable along substantially the entire length of said feeder duct to ensure that, in use and as a charge of crop material is being accumulated in the feeder duct, said opposed wall means generally maintain contact with said crop material.

  • Patent number: 4510946
Abstract: An infeed mechanism for a rotary cleaning device for cleaning threshed grain in combine harvesters is disclosed wherein an infeed auger includes a pair of helical flights terminating in a pair of radially extending distributing paddles. The infeed auger is mounted forwardly of a rotatable cleaning cylinder with the distributing paddles being positioned within the axial opening through the cleaning cylinder to discharge threshed grain radially outwardly into individual cleaning shoes. A grain pan is provided within each cleaning shoe to receive the threshed grain discharged from the distributing paddles, each cleaning shoe being operable to reciprocatably move in a generally fore-and-aft direction to convey grain received on the grain pans rearwardly onto sieves also mounted within the cleaning shoes. The infeed mechanism is also provided with an upwardly extending infeed chute that is flared outwardly from top to bottom to serve as a conduit for the infeed of threshed grain into the infeed auger.

  • Patent number: 4344442
Abstract: Augers used in farm machinery are generally rotatably mounted in a bearing plate. Often the small diameter rotor shaft of the auger becomes fouled by crop material which wraps around the shaft ultimately inhibiting rotation and sometimes damaging rotor bearings. This is avoided by rotatably mounting a larger diameter auger tube within a recess formed in the bearing plate.

  • Patent number: 4205511
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a combine with a unique sealing arrangement between the pivotable feeder housing and the inlet opening. The feeder housing includes axially aligned pivot arms which extend away therefrom to engage a pair of support yokes which permit the feeder housing to pivot vertically. The pivot arms include curved contact plates which sealingly engage at least partly semi-circular resilient closure members on the combine frame to prevent crop material from escaping between the feeder housing and the inlet opening.

  • Patent number: 4186753
Abstract: In a crop harvesting and threshing machine of the type utilizing axial flow threshing and separation there is provided about the upper portions of the rotor casing axial flow inhibiting elements rearwardly of axial flow facilitating elements. The inhibiting elements are arranged in a reverse pattern to the facilitating elements so that crop material transported axially about the threshing and separating rotors is decelerated and deflected into a discharge opening without passing further rearwardly, thus preventing the enwrapping of crop material about the rotatable shafts of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4165751
Abstract: This invention pertains to a combine of the axial flow type in which rotor means extend longitudinally within the combine in association with concaves, the rotor having in axial alignment, a threshing portion and a separating portion rearward thereof and mounted for coaction with respective concaves disposed beneath the rotor. Tailings which are discharged from the separator section of the rotor and concave normally contain a worthwhile amount of crop material intermixed with waste chaff, straw and the like, and further threshing to separate the crop material from the waste material is effected by a rotatable beater and coacting grate which extend transversely to the axis of the rotor and rearward of the discharge end of the separator portion of the rotor and concave.

  • Patent number: 4159023
Abstract: A crop handling unit for an axial-flow type combine harvester having an infeed region and tandem threshing and separating regions. An associated conveyor is provided for delivering crop material into the infeed region of the unit whereupon material is urged rearwardly along a generally helical path. Ultimately grain is separated from the crop material and discharged through concaves and grates in the threshing and separating regions, respectively, onto a grain pan. The infeed region is provided with improved means to spread out abnormally thick masses of material during its rearward travel.

  • Patent number: 4078571
Abstract: A combine harvester comprising at least one generally cylindrical crop handling unit having tandem threshing and separating sections through which material is advanced along a generally helical path. A conveyor is provided for receiving crop material from a forwardly positioned crop header and delivering it axially into the cylindrical unit. During operation, grain is separated from the crop material and discharged through concaves and grates in the threshing and separating sections, respectively, onto a grain pan which in turn deposits it on cleaning sieves located rearwardly of the grain pan. The clean grain is elevated to a storage tank mounted on the combine while the residue is conveyed rearwardly and expelled onto the field.

  • Patent number: 4018232
Abstract: A mobile combine having longitudinally extending rotor and concave threshing and separating members and a grain pan beneath the threshing and separating members to receive threshed and semi-threshed crop material incident to transmitting said material to a sieve mechanism. In order to prevent uneven build up or deposit of said material in localized areas upon the grain pan, deflecting members are provided in several different embodiments or arrangements which are fixed to the threshing and/or the separating members, all having the common objective of deflecting material discharged from the threshing and separating areas of the grain pan which normally have low accumulation and thereby tend to cause substantially even distribution of said material upon the grain pan.

  • Patent number: 3994304
Abstract: A rotary combine having axially extending threshing rotor and coacting concave positioned to receive crop material to be threshed from auger means on the forward end of the rotor, and an elevator which extends upward and rearward from a header to the auger means delivers the crop material to an upwardly and rearwardly extending feed plate which guides the crop material upwardly in an undershot manner to said auger means. Several embodiments of a grain trapping and back-flow retarding plate are associated adjustably with said feed plate to permit discharge of threshed crop material and prevent tendencies for the material being fed upward along the feed plate to slide back down the same toward the elevator.
