  • Patent number: 5224463
Abstract: A bowstring release assembly comprises a housing that receives the operative components that facilitate bowstring release motion. A gear assembly initiates and actuates the release motion. A rack and a pinion form the gear assembly. A trigger operates the rack to translate within the housing. The pinion is formed on a first portion of the peripheral surface of a rotary member which rotates in response to operation of the rack. A cam is formed on a second portion of the peripheral surface of the rotary member. The cam cooperates with a roller disposed on one end of a restraint assembly mounted on a pivot pin within the housing to allow bowstring release. A peg disposed on a second end of the restraint assembly engages the bowstring for restraint and pivots away upon actuation for release. A rope loop anchored to the housing may be provided to wrap around the bowstring and hook onto the peg for restraint.

  • Patent number: 4917070
Abstract: A cable guide assembly for a compound bow is disclosed. The guide assembly includes a spindle having a central bore for receiving the bow mounted offset cable rod. A pair of cable rollers are rotatably retained upon the spindle to receive and guide the two runs of the tensioning cable. A plurality of stationary ball bearings are provided in the wall of the spindle to slidingly engage both the cable rod and the rollers to provide the low friction action. During operation of the bow, either during drawing or release, the limbs of the bow flex, imparting an orthogonal (up and down) as well as an axial (back and forth) motion to the tensioning cable. Advantageously, the rotating action of the rollers accomodates the up and down motion of the cable. Concurrently, the guide assembly freely slides upon the rod to accomodate the axial motion of the cable.

  • Patent number: 4636761
Abstract: A fail-safe solenoid switching mechanism (11) uses a reciprocating switch (15) to establish make-or-break connections. In order to increase the effective life of shorting bars on the switch, the switch's reciprocating part 23 is rotated by a ratcheting mechanism each time the switch (15) is cycled.Advantages include enhanced reliability, even when the switching mechanism (11) sees extended quiescant periods between operations.
