  • Patent number: 5849823
Abstract: This application relates to flexible gaskets formed from blends of linear or substantially linear homogeneously branched ethylene/.alpha.-olefin interpolymers and that possess improved processability as well as low temperature resistance and resistance to staining and attack by microbes. Such gaskets do not require formulation other than the addition of color, to produce a functional product. The gaskets of the present invention do not impact negatively on the environment and are also relatively inexpensive to produce.
    Type: Grant

Inventors: Lawrence T. Kale, Robert R. Turley, Pradeep Jain, Lonnie G. Hazlitt
  • Patent number: 5688866
Abstract: Compositions having good low temperature impact performance made from a thermoplastic (e.g., a polyolefin such as polypropylene) and either at least one linear ethylene/C.sub.5 -C.sub.20 .alpha.-olefin or at least one substantially linear ethylene/C.sub.3 -C.sub.20 .alpha.-olefin polymer are disclosed. The compositions are easily molded and have particular utility in making automotive facia, parts and other household articles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 6, 1995
Date of Patent: November 18, 1997
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
